The last ANA show I attended was in Charlotte many many years ago. I'm hoping to make to this one, but I have unresolved "things" going on at the moment and am not sure what the future may hold. :| GNA in Dalton(April) would the next closest opportunity for a larger show. Anyone forum members planning to attend this one?

Have this one on my radar, but not sure yet. Quite a few tables still available at this time.

The last ANA one I went to was Charlotte as well! It’s possible I might make it but if it’s downtown Atlanta.... nope. Nothing would get me in that quagmire.

The Cobb Galleria is on 285 going toward Marietta/6 Flags area. Whitman had shows there a long time ago.

Will dealers hang around until Saturday, free admission day? For some reason I have a problem paying to attend a coin show, especially knowing how much the dealers paid for their tables.

Already have sent in m Exhibit application. Looking forward to it.

    but if it’s downtown Atlanta

Actually, no - it's just off 285 and easy to get to.

Yes. Primary reason is to drop off some coins for conservation and grading. I have a small accumulation waiting for it.

I doubt I will find hardly anything to buy. I never have in the past at any show, the last being this one in 2013.

Galleria I assume, as in the past. Near intersection of I-75 and I-285.

I will attend as it is easy to get to. The mid-winter ANA shows are usually one-third
the size of the Summer ANA. They are well attended by many of the larger national dealers.
Local tax issues and unions keep the ANA from scheduling in most parts of the country.
On top of those issues, the ANA as a whole is small potatoes compared to other organizations
ie. Amway and Mary Kay to name two. Anyone notice that less than 3 weeks later Whitman
will be hosting a show in Baltimore. By the way, I read recently that when the ANA sent out
inquiries to several cities, some of them did not respond. That's why Rosemont is a perennial
location. Good for me as well, easy to get to, affordable rooms and dining. Those that tire of
Rosemont still have FUN, Whitman and Long Beach.

The excitement will be the chance to possibly meet other forum members. talk about coins all day, view stuff I probably haven't seen before, and enjoy the day not at my office! :)

Is this worth traveling to? Do most major dealers even attend given that Long Beach is Feb 20th?

Hope to see a lot of coin show reports... then with Long Beach following and FUN in the rear view mirror, we should have a good picture of the coin market for 2020....Cheers, RickO

This is a list of the dealers who have tables at this time.

I did not realize that the Long Beach show is a week earlier.
    Kagins is presenting the auction.
I will try to update this post weekly. As of this morning there
    are still 45+ tables available.

The last one a few years ago (2014) in Atlanta was big, I thought anyway. I'll probably hit this.

  • TiborTibor Posts: 3,584 ✭✭✭✭✭

There are only 23 tables left by my count. Only one
month before the show starts. Hope to see many of you
    there.

I love "hit and run" posters like this - they don't explain what's bad about Orlando or Florida and then they proclaim "move the show". OK, so tell us, what's the tax situation in "God's country"? Explain the facilities that are available there and the ease of transportation to this mystical location? I won't hold my breath waiting for a response.......

Alright, this Atlantan will bite. Where is this God's Country of which you speak? I Googled it and came up with a bunch of options

Pay no mind to this Blitz dribbler, he posted the same nonsense about New Orleans. Contributes precious little to the forum except for "dip them all".

Will probably be there Saturday, it's a stones through from one of my favorite bagel places that I don't frequent that often. It gives me a good excuse to go to both with the same trip. I hope most dealers are still there.

Does anyone know when Kagin's will hold the auction? Do I have to sign up to see what will be for sale?

please forgive my ignorance, but is there a list of dealers who will be at this show?

Might be a good excuse to visit family and make the trip.

I'll be there --- giving a presentation on modern U.S. Mint gold and silver medals Thursday morning at 10:00, followed by a second presentation (with Bill Fivaz) on cherrypicking rare die varieties at 11:00.

Just looked at the dealer list, looks like a great show with most of the national dealers attending.

  • HallcoHallco Posts: 3,649 ✭✭✭✭✭

The plan as of right this moment is to be there for the ribbon cutting/public opening Thursday morning! B)

  • TiborTibor Posts: 3,584 ✭✭✭✭✭

There are only 17 tables left. Many big company dealers will be there.
Could we try for a meet/greet at the snack bar one day, maybe Fri.
Maybe at one of close by bars/ restaurants for drinks or dinner.
    Just a thought.

I blew my already limited budget this month.

Will Dalton will have many of the same dealers in April.

How do the two shows compare?

    Dalton might actually be bigger.
The winter ANA disappointed me last time it was in Atlanta.

Dalton is always a great show, both the GNA in April and the BRNA in August. Not as many National dealers as the ANA but you won't have any trouble spending your coin budget. If I had to travel and could only pick one Dalton would be my choice.

Don't get me wrong, the ANA show in Atlanta will be a good show and when I attended in 2015 (?) I had a good time and there is always enough going on in Atlanta to keep you busy when not at the show.

I will be there Thursday and possibly Friday as I suspect the GNA (host club) will be putting me to work. I am sure that anyone attending on Saturday will be disappointed. Is there any show left where the bulk of the dealers stay for the last day?

Well. It turns out I'm setting up at the show after all. Sure has made for a busy month or so. I am not in the program since I was so late. I'll be at corner table 137.

I have never been to an ANA show. Maybe one day when I retire.

  • goldengolden Posts: 9,709 ✭✭✭✭✭

14 tables left. Mostly in the high rent district.

  • I'll be there with lots of mint errors! It's good to have a "somewhat" local ANA, and the Atlanta location seems to be pretty good overall.

I went to BRNA in August 2018 but could not make it last year. The calendar is not cooperating this year for the April and August Dalton shows for me unfortunately. I think that is why I'm looking for to the ANA. Unless something changes, this will probably be the only large show I get to this year....and that's ok! :)

  • goldengolden Posts: 9,709 ✭✭✭✭✭

9 tables are still left. All but two of them are in the high rent district.

  • HallcoHallco Posts: 3,649 ✭✭✭✭✭

Does anyone know if any of the tables will have coin photography offered on site during the show? I don't see our usual forum friends who do those services listed. 2 weeks away! Working on my wishlist and getting excited!! B)

Either on this forum or another I posted the same question. Received one
question as to cost for services. If I find I will ttt the post. The post with the
cost question was on Coin Talk.

  • goldengolden Posts: 9,709 ✭✭✭✭✭

8 tables left with two weeks to go.

  • goldengolden Posts: 9,709 ✭✭✭✭✭

7 tables still left with 10 days to go.

I wont be at this one as these "spring" ANA's has not been great for me the kicker was the back to back with Long Beach. I cant swing that.

Looks like it will not be a sellout. There are still 7 tables left with only two days to go.

I'll have to set all of my stuff down on one of them, pick up my phone and start talking very loudly about some highly sought after, "fresh" coins that I am acquiring that day to see what kind of looks I get!!! :D
