Dimeman's FUN Show report.......
I have been coming to FUN since 2006 and this was like no other. For one thing It was almost a show that wasn't for me. My wife Mrs. Dimeman (Linda) was scheduled for a Heart Cath around this time and we didn't know when until Monday that we were going in to have it on Thursday. To make a long story short the procedure went great and the results were great. NO blockage at all and the Doctor said she has the heart of a 30 year old, which is something considering she is a lovely 72. So she said GO TO FUN!
So I got to the show around 2:00 PM Thursday. I couldn't believe how crowded the floor was. The place was buzzing. Even though this was my 15th FUN Show I was still in awe. I knew I didn't have the time or energy to hit every table like before since I am 72 also. So I decided to just do a hit and miss of my favorite dealers and of course talk to guys I see every year here. My first mission was to go to Gerry Fortin's table and look at some coins I had him bring for me. So I picked up my BIG coin of the show from him a 1796 Dime in PCGSVG10 OGH...….this coin is an absolute gem for the grade and is the JR6 with the huge D/C thru the Date. This is for my Complete Dime year Date Set 1796 to present. I am also in the process of filling in the holes in this Date Set from when I sold my Complete Seated Dime Variety set back in 2016. So I also found a 1886 Dime with RPD in PCGS58 at Gerry's table. This is a coin he brought for me to look at. I am trying to get some kind of variety for each Date in this Dat Set.
I then went to the ICG table and had a great talk with @Insider2. I brought some Dime varieties for him to look at. These are varieties not recognized anywhere and I am considering sending to Dr. Wiles at CONECA. I then met with Mike (@bigdowgie) to complete a deal we had going which ending with me getting 2 Jefferson Nickels for my Variety Type Set. I then went to see Dennis
@amwldcoin and sold off the few Barber Quarters and a Half that I had started. By this time it was getting close to show closing time. I then made my way to Vito's Steak House and met with 12 Roosie Dime collectors. This was quite a bash and I didn't get out of there until very late, I met the guy who took over 1st place in the Complete Roosevelt Dime Complete Varieties 46-64 no bands Set. Now I am #2, but still having fun.
Friday I just went around looking and managed to find the following coins for my Variety Type Set:
1871 TDO PCGS50 3cn
1884-O Vam6 O/O PCGS65
1874-CC Wide CC Trade Dollar PCGS50
2000 Wounded Eagle Saq Dollar PCGS64
This has been a very fun set to put together.
Later on Friday I submitted a group of coins to GC to be put into their auction. By this time it was closing time and time to go to the scheduled meeting of the forum members. This was the 2nd year and we are growing. I won't try to name everyone there for fear of leaving someone out. There were some I met last year and some new faces this year. It was a very nice night. It's always nice to meet people that you have talked with only on the forum.
Saturday is always a short day when I go around and just check things out and see if I can find one more coin. And in this case I CherryPicked a 1942-D Mercury Dime RPM10 (CONECA) I have a PCGS65FB, but this was a BEAUTIFUL 67FB CAC......so I pulled the trigger. This is also the day I submit some coins to PCGS. So I sent in 8 coins.
This was a great show for me with the highlite being the 1796 Dime. I will have pics of all of these soon when I get home and start entering them into my sets.
Hope this wasn't too boring.

Great seeing you Dimeman! Great report.
Best, SH
Great report and glad your wife is now a 30 year old in heart for you. I was glad to talk with you and look forward to your picks after you get those in your register. My feet are still a little sore from the event. So today is a great day to organize relax and reflex on the show.
Blessed.

Great report! Haven't yet made it to a big show and really enjoy the reports that are posted here.
Great meeting you too Kathy.
Great meeting you, DIMEMAN, but now I'm a little upset you didn't pass around that 1796 dime for us to look at - it sounds awesome.
I hope you post photos of it soon!
I did pass it around at the forum gettogether. It will be the first coin I post when I get back home. Sorry you missed the Dime.
I'm glad Mrs Dimeman is okay... Scary though that they do a heart cath for someone with no blockage and a heart of a 30 year old...
I'm sure the good news made attending FUN that much better....
Nice report. Glad your wife is healthy. Nice seeing you at the show, even though I wasn't able to get to the big events.

Thank you!!!
Thanks you @DIMEMAN for your not boring show report and I am so glad all went well with your loved one.
I'm surprised you made it out of the bar with that 1796 Dime! Sweet Coin!
Fun FUN report. I cannot fathom how you find so many RPD's etc. You must set up a microscope at every table you visit.
We're happy to hear you wife's doing well, but, I bet not as happy as you 2 are.
Great to see you at FUN, Dimeman!

The best report was to hear how your wife is doing DIMEMAN! Happy to hear that she is doing good and has the heart of a 30yr old, you're a lucky man to have her it sounds like and hopefully she continues on for many more years to come like she is now. Sounds like you are doing pretty good too which is also great, both of you stay healthy!
Great news concerning your wife. We here at the forum are very pleased about how
well the procedure went!! The show report was well written. Give Mrs. Dimeman a
hug from us here on the forum.
Great report, thanks for sharing!

Great news about Mrs. Dimeman, the coins no matter how nice are far secondary to that. Congratulations to you both and thanks for the report.
Kind regards,
George
@DIMEMAN ....Thanks for a great show report.... and glad to hear the good report on your wife. I look forward to your coin pictures - always of high quality - and the magnification of the specific detail is a great help. Cheers, RickO
Can't wait to see the dime.
Nice report @DIMEMAN and not boring at all. Like you said, it was a very good show. I'm glad it worked out for you and that you found some great coins for your sets. Thanks for taking the time to share and looking forward to seeing your photos.
Awesome report, and even BETTER news on your wife! Fantastic!!!
Dave
I have a 72 year old bride as well. She has had a devil of a time the last two years but is now healthy. That's all that really matters, the health and happiness of those we love. Enjoyed your report, thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I'm glad your bride is doing better also.
Perhaps next year will be my time to have some FUN. Looking forward to your images Jon! ...and it is good to hear about your "young at heart" wife!

Don't forget your oatmeal...Trust me you will feel a difference after 2 weeks. Plus it tastes good.
Try some syrup in it.
Sorry that I missed you at the show. I was there all of Thursday and Friday. I guess that our paths did not cross. I missed the PCGS Luncheon because I did not make a reservation in time. Did not find much but had a FUN time. So glad that your wife is doing good. Hope to see somewhere down the road.
Not boring at all. Thanks, good report. Glad your wife is doing well.
