FUN Newps with Surprise Ending
Just got back from the most social-event-packed coin show on my annual schedule. The snow in Chicago wasn't as bad as had been forecasted, which mean I'm not breaking ice today. While I regrettably missed some of the CU get-togethers, I did manage to see a handful of people on the bourse from Thursday to Saturday.
Now for the newps. Coin #1 is an 1879-S Reverse of 78 Morgan that is an upgrade from a somewhat ratty 64 I just sold to a 63 with a CAC sticker that I like better.
That left me some money to buy some other stuff -- 3 early bust halves. These two were from JJ Teaparty
And this one from Sheridan Downey
As for the surprise ending, Saturday afternoon I did the NGC grading contest. Late in the day I went back to see how I did, and it turns out I moved up from last year's 8th place finish to a 1st place tie with Ron Guth. Very diverse box of coins (and a medal) to grade. NGC will be posting the coins and their commentary within the next week.

Way to go. I was going to do the contest but think I need another year of training/learning before I give that a go. Awesome ending indeed. Congrats to you.

Well done!
Well done! So is the holder a 1/1 or 1/2?

Congrats and great seeing you again John.
Congrats on the win, and I LOVE that 1807 half!
The holder is 1 of 10, given out to correspond with your place in the contest to the top 10 finishers. They gave me 1 because either because I got there before Ron or because I didn't used to be PCGS President.

Congrats on winning the grading contest. I'm sure they didn't pick coins that were all easy.
Your new 1810 Bust half has a crack in it. Just thought you should know.
