FUN 2020 Part 1
This will be my 9th consecutive FUN.
Arrived today at 215pm, completing the 1100 mile road trip to the Orange County Convention Center. During the long walk to HA lot viewing, I passed by 50 dealers standing in a registration line. Perfect! That meant fewer people in lot viewing.
Entered the viewing room and it was half full which means less wait time for boxes of coins and I will have room to try my new doohickey (does anybody use that word anymore?)
There was a thread recently about favorite lights for viewing coins. Fluorescent, incandescent, halogen, daylight. I have not been very satisfied with the lamps in lot viewing. I usually leave it off or pushed away because it is too bright. I can use the LED on my loupe to check for hairlines on gold eagles. I have had difficulty to really tell the color though. At home I prefer daylight to really discern the color of an eagle.
So, I bought a new toy. An OttLite. I tested it today at lot viewing. While not as good as real daylight from my overhead skylight at home, it was much better than the lamps in the lot viewing room. I was able to really tell the difference between coins and identify the ones that meet my criteria.
I have read about OttLite on this forum but could not imagine travelling with a bulb to screw into the lamp at lot viewing. I bought the nifty little doohickey below. Price was reasonable. Shipping was expensive.
