Without wishing to get political, there is a political reality that the President has been impeached. Would this not be expected to affect the Dollar and, by extension, Gold?
I think all that is baked in. Most asset classes are ramping upwards. Money is cheap and everyone wants you to buy, buy, buy.......Ive been 100% long but literally just started taking a few chips off the table and parking in cash.

War Fears.
He has NOT been impeached till Papers are send to the Senate Nancy is to scared to send them..... Then Trump can run 2 more times...... All them crooks are running scared
My take is that when Jerome Powell said recently that the Fed is actively trying to get the inflation rate UP, everyone took him at his word. Interest rates have been rising, fixed income asset prices declining, and the specter of inflation buoys gold. The imminent signing of a "phase one" China deal is also raising expectations of a stronger overall world economy, regardless of whether it turns out to be more ceremony than substance.
You ain’t seen nothing yet I fear.

That’s not true at all. He’s been 100% impeached. That can’t be undone. He may not be convicted and removed from office but impeached he is.
Bill Clinton was impeached by Congress but not convicted by the Senate and removed from office but he remains one of three presidents to be impeached. Johnson is the other one.
Them are facts. No alternative facts will change that.

All this feces soup will lead to gold prices going up but the stock market maybe looking at a retraction if international instability rattles other markets

Not really and I don’t want to fan flames either.
I suppose if Congress never sends over the articles of impeachment to the Senate then maybe there is a debate. That’s all that is saying. But the articles of impeachment will be transmitted eventually so it’s a moot point.
I suppose this is a good time to walk away from this thread. No good can come out of it
Gold is at $1541 as I type

Pretty sure it was Andrew Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, not Jackson.
Thanks both for the correction. I’ll change it. Brain fart

Without wishing to get political, there is a political reality that the gold market knows that Trump is still President of the United States of America and will most likely be for the next 5 years. Also, this entire thread belongs in the CU Precious Metals Forum here.

Some constitutional scholars say that "impeachment is a process, not an event" and that technically the impeachment does not occur until the articles are transmitted to the Senate. [Small technicality.]
The running 2 more times is simply bunk. You can run 2 more times if you finish a partial term of your predecessor, not if you are removed from your own term. [Not that that's going to happen anyway.]
Well I guess everyone knows the sh*t has hit the fan with the killing of a couple of Iranian Military leaders in Iraq from an ordered US airstrike. How are we ever going to get out of the Middle East.
It is a beautiful morning here in the Catskill Mountains....sunny, almost 40 degrees, no wind...The dogs were quite frisky when I took them out earlier. I checked my PM holdings and all is well... Cash reserve adequate, wine cellar stocked, larder stocked and ordnance replete in all respects. What a great day.... Cheers, RickO
Right, except gold has been in a distinct uptrend for the last few weeks. The news certainly didn't hurt it.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that IMO the stock market is too high right now. FWIW, I have pulled some money out the market over the last couple of months and built up my cash reserves a bit. Also, I do own some bullion, but it is an "insurance policy", not per se looked upon as a wealth building financial vehicle.
Having said that, just look at the returns you'd have if you were a bullion stacker in 2011, as opposed to a buyer of the stock market. Unquestionably there are specific years where precious metals outperform the stock market, but on the whole, year in, year out, the stock market will make you far more money than precious metals.
Philosophically, I also happen to believe that investing in the Dow Jones, S&P, Russell etc. shows positive belief in the American people to create, build and produce, year in, year out, even if part of the business community is incompetent/corrupt, and the government is generally a hindrance.

Excellent points, Skyman. I do agree that over the long term the stock market is the place to park money vs. gold. OTOH, from 2000-09 gold beat stocks in a landslide. Not coincidentally it was also a fabulous decade to own coins.
Double Eagle melt just topped $1500.
.
Good year to cash out on the market high and wait for things to settle in the elections, Iran, and the anticipated market drop either due to those events or profit taking.
I don’t have a favorite wrestler, never have, and yes if the wrong people get into office you just watch the gold and silver hit an all time high. Yes it will and you absolutely can use politics as a barometer. What do you use? Wrestling?
Historically, has socialism been good or bad for the gold and silver markets?

Socialism sucks all over the place. This economy is booming and keeping the price of gold and silver down for the most part. Once that changes you’ll see a huge jump in the price with precious metals . That’s a fact.
