Funny I never see anyone get upset when people post a giveaway on the US coin forum that should technically be in the giveaway and swaps
No one is terribly upset that I can tell. We would even be less invested if the OP would just admit that this was a sales listing. LOL.
It's also that sales are a much bigger threat. How many giveaways are there relative to BST listings? It's just the risk of swamping this forum with coins for sale that is the issue. Based on the number of threads, there are about 60x the number of US Coin BST compared to giveaways.
If it is OK for Legend, it is OK for collectors too IMHO.

Your “big news” should be posted on BST.
That's what I would ordinarily think too, but there seemed to be a consensus in recent threads that precedent had been set for spamming the U.S. Coin Forum and that it was OK by many.
Legend posts a public sale, not a private one. Legend also pays PCGS for advertising that appears elsewhere on the site. Legend is also a top 3 or 4 auction firm.
If every member who had something to sell posts it here, you are going to have nothing but "for sale" and "wanted to buy" on this forum. That is why those posts are supposed to be sequestered on BST.
Agreed. This thread should be moved to the BST forum.

Agreed but probability wise, which do you think you are going to see the greatest of sales ads or true giveaways? The purpose of the commercial ad prohibition is to prevent ads from cluttering up the forums. Commercial ads are a real threat to the U.S. Coin Forum in terms of screen real estate and burying other threads. Giveaways not so much.
@DIMEMAN good luck with moving your entire focus to dimes.
I know every few months I get a desire to start a buffalo set or proof walker set but constantly remind myself to keep my focus on my type set until I finish in 3-5 years (or else it could be 15 years or never).
Btw, just posting this makes me want to look at what proof walkers are currently for sale!
Especially given today's date, this announcement could have been done far more artfully. Had the thread been titled something like "What is your main numismatic focus for 2020?", the OP could have led off with a post about how he was abandoning (and BTW, divesting) his quarter set in the interest of devoting his full resources to dime varieties. Details of how he planned to divest could have been placed in his signature. FWIW.
I think the #8 set is pretty cool and a nice accomplishment. If it is big news to you then I'm happy you shared it with us. It is New Years, I guess it would be your resolution! Now I have to think of my own New Years resolution.

Registry forum or BST Board. Registry Forum would likely get everyone’s eyes on it. That said, there are mitigating factors that might simply get Jon a few hours of “community service” and not even an hour in the brink! Good show Jon on the 48 S/S!

I put this there also. Just thought I would start here to get more viewers. Didn't mean to offend anyone.
You just admitted to posting here for the eyeballs on your coins you are selling. That is why the BST exists. Where are our moderators? I guess yesterday was a holiday and its 6:50am out in California right now.
How many times did you place a nuke bid to cherrypick a quarter for this set and then try to return it because you messed up? I know your type.

When his greed ends up costing you money, you can come to me and say stuff like this. Until then, I would appreciate if you stay out of situations you do not understand. All @DIMEMAN cares about is his pocket.

Well, they say there's no such thing as bad publicity......
Some of us would have done it and some of us wouldn't have. It's a grey area in my book. In no way does this diminish the quality of the collection.

Time for you to get some big coins...like Silver Eagles. I know how much you love them.
