I’m a big Yankees fan and there’s no doubt they needed him.

    The contract is horrendous.

It’s Monopoly money for the Yankees. The Tampa team won only a few less games than the Yankees did last year with a lot less money. Cole’s contract is equal to about four years of the Tampa total payroll.

It's crazy to sign any athlete for 9 years! So many things can happen.> @keets said:

You are probably alluding to Judge. It worked out fine. They made it to the ALCS and would have probably won if the Astros weren't a bunch of cheaters. They (Houston) probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs if not for the fact that they knew what pitch was coming and it still took them 7 games to beat the Yankee's!

Giancarlo Stanton - hurt for most of 2019, finished his 2nd year in NY, after an unreal 2017 with Marlins. Seems many guys have great years right before they are due a new contract, then they can’t live up to their deals - A-rod, Pujols, Stanton, Price, Ellsbury, many more.

I'm guessing you mean Stanton. His first year was good, only played 18 games last year.

Actually, all the details escaped you. The name is Giancarlo Stanton, he was traded for (and they gave up nothing for him as it was a salary dump by the Marlins) and he was fantastic in his first year. While he was hurt (at times, badly) most of 2018, so was everyone else. Yet he played 158 games anyway, scored 102 R, hit 38 HR, drove in 100 and hit .266. As a result of over doing it in year one, he never got healthy last year. But I appreciate guys who play hurt; not everyone does. And while some you can, some injuries you can’t play through.

So I’d say so far, so good and let’s see what year three brings.

Severino, Tanaka, Paxton, Montgomery behind Cole is sick. Then German post suspension but something tells me he’s coming back as a reliever.....
