Massive Jewelry Burglary in Dresden Germany this weekend.......

Wow, they're saying 1.1 billion dollars !
Some type of jewelry collection stolen from what was called the "green vault". Sounds like a misnomer as all this stuff wasn't in a vault, it was in 'smashable' display cases. The perps cut power, bent back a window screen, busted the window, and smashed some display cases for the heist. Seems like some pretty lax security for a collection worth 10 figures.
Keep your eyes open for some neat, older European jewelry......

Yep, in and out in 5 minutes. Sounds like there was some intimate knowledge of the location...
These are collected by August II the Strong from 1723 and 1730. He was a Saxon elector and patron of the arts. He was also the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. Of note, he was elected King in Poland which allowed rulers to be elected at the time.

Another inside job or someone that worked for the security company... ?!

I read that there was not any insurance on the collection.

Those jewelry pieces will be cut up and the stones will sold. It's a shame, but that's what will happen.
That was an incredible heist....Amazing how easy they made it seem.....Security is a constant process, must be continually evaluated and improved. Cheers, RickO
they got some beautiful jewelry by the tv news cast video. its like holy cow. its going to be a hard sell
Hopefully they catch the thieves.
From the WSJ:
Either the jewelry will be cut up or it will be sold to a collector on the black market.
The movie should be coming out this time next year.....
