I recently acquired this 1843 SLD as a type coin and couldn’t be more pleased. The surfaces have a nice layer of crust and really come alive under a light with notes of blue and orange and nice reflectivity in the fields. It’s hard to capture the look of this coin in photos as it varies greatly depending on lighting and angle, but the combination of the images below gives some idea of the coin’s appearance. Special thanks to @Crusty for educating and advising me on the series and helping me to pick a good one.

Very nice newp. The shields on the ob/reverse look sharp, too.
I don't think you could do much better for a type coin. Congrats!
Looks quite lovely, congrats.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I’m glad you pulled the trigger on her. 43 is considered a common date (If there is such a thing for LSDs) but they definitely don’t come looking like yours very often. The rims are perfect and the awesome crusty toning probably made it very easy for JA to place a sticker on her. Be careful LSDs are addicting..... Congrats!!!
Not a seated dollar guy because it seems so hard to buy nice ones. I can't think of a series that has more messed with coins (or just plain ugly ones) in straight graded holders. Your coin looks to be a pleasant exception! Congrats!

Very attractive! Well done.

WOW
What a great looking coin, I’m glad you bought her too. Congratulation on the addition to the type collection.
Very nice LSD....I like those coins and that one has good detail....Congratulations on a nice acquisition...Cheers, RickO
I have a few similar AU coins without cleaning hairlines or dipping and they are really hard to find...love the look of your coin !
Commems and Early Type
Most every LSD I have seen in hand is scrubbed or messed with in some way. Great to see a stunning example that does not fall in to these categories.
Best, SH
I love it! Congratulations, it's a wonderful coin.

What a beauty! Hard to tell from pic. Do you see rub on it?
Hard for me to tell. I’ll defer to the LSD specialists. Would be interested to hear from the experts.
This an 1842 I had graded a few years ago. Just another that has been messed with, though I like it because it has little ware.
