    What I find most interesting is the depiction of lady liberty. She appears to be a beefy gal with a sizeable bosom. Its very different from most other depictions I've seen of her.

    Lady Liberty and other devices were modified many times by the Mint. The goal was always to improve strike-up. Sadly the results usually failed.

    Along the way the Mint toyed with letter and numeral sizes and style and performed surgery to fix blunders that often made things worse.

    Mint adjustments, across many series (not just bust halves), are aspects that make collecting early federal coins so fun. Varieties were blatant, not minor graving tweaks hard to discern.
