1916 D dime in change from grocery store
Listing description.
"1916 D Mercury Dime, I found today within my change given back to me from the local grocery store. The Clerk even said huh, this looks odd for a dime? Its a rare one! I don't collect dimes anymore but I know those out there who love to collect sure do. Offers are fully accepted! Free shipping as well!"
Check his sold listings.... his grocery store must be giving out counterfeit gold coins too.

Yep I'm buying that story with the excellent pics coupled with a no return policy.
Lots of luck to the astute buyer of this key date counterfeit

same thing sold 2 months ago - is the 'other' category for replicas?

eBay makes its money if it sells
fake
I get those in change all the time when I'm shopping.........in China !
He sells the same fake 59-S Gold $1 over and over. Seems pretty willful to me.

Anyone think this one will turn out well?

Yes that happened to me last week too.
I got two strange looking cents with wheat stalks on them.
And low and behold, one was a 1943 copper and the other was a 1909-s VDB.
Wow!!!
In change? Maybe this guy shops at the abandoned 200 year old pottery barn...

Superfluous and in this case unbelievable details are automatically a red flag.
It is his way of trying to plead ignorance about what it really is (a fake).
This type of con artist is the lowest of the low.
how bogus is that. some one is out all that money
Hopefully, who ever is buying the Au’s are doing so to file SNADs?
My wishful thinking.
He voluntarily took the coin down
My note to him:
Do you guarantee this as a genuine 1916-D Dime? Your return policy and feedback make me leery to bid.
Like to have better pictures as your feedback is poor and shows several polished and sketchy coins.
Thanks
His Reply (which I don't buy)
Sorry the person who listed this coin was a second user and now has zero access to this account. The coin was a replica that belonged to my son. Sorry for any confusion or deceit from that post as it was not authorized by me.

So what's the over/under on how long before it shows up again (and better establishes intent)?

I received the same message, after contacting him. And he disputed my assessment that various uncertified U.S. gold coins showing in his completed transactions, were counterfeit.

Yeah he didn't take that coin down completely, he took it down to only put it back up and sell it for $336 dollars 3 days later!
He must of forgot to put in the auction that it was not returnable in the first advertisement
If this shows up again, please PM me
As a board member of ACEF we will be getting aggressive with folks listings known counterfeits multiple times.
Examples will be made.

Very educational post!
He sells the same "weak D" gold coin, over and over. Nothing suspicious about that - yeah, right.
I knew it would happen.
Thanks for pursuing this issue/seller...I doubt he will be permanently stopped, but we can impair his business...Cheers, RickO
