I think this is the one. Extremely rare super deep die cap Cowboy Coin.

    Maybe they had to give it a few "taps" to flatten it out so it would fit >:)

    Now that is a pretty cool looking error, I could see that one being worth a Benjamin... maybe even two!

    I am not sure how the 2007 D errors got out, I suspect a Brinks Escape, but I have zero information on what happened. Some on this board may know, I do not.

    neat yes, worth a few Clevelands? doubt it. no secondary market for a few Cleveland investment - better off buying ocean front property in Arizona

    Nice addition, EOC. Your Wyoming obverse cap has great eye appeal. :)

    So bad these state quarter caps are such incredibly rare. Hard to find after 1999/2000. I have only seen an 2007-D Idaho obverse die cap, which I recently purchased, and your example.

    That one has a lot of eye appeal EOC. The OCD in me would have to have that label fixed. LOL

    There are some pretty cool errors that escaped 2007 Denver production floor. Nothing amazing from Denver in 2008, 09,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19 or 2006 and earlier to 2002, so these 2007 Denver Mint's Outlandish error coins, in many denominations got plugged and terminated.

    Interesting observation, LindyS. I went back to Heritage website (nice it is up again), and checked some of their cool 2007 errors, including reverse die cap dimes. Guess you are right, most of them are from Denver. :o

    Even if it was created legitimately, how did this leave the Mint? There's some thought that this could have had help leaving the Mint.

    There was a 'leak' in Denver in 2007.

    That's why there were, and are, a much
    greater number of errors on many denominations
    (mostly cents and quarters) than on previous or
    subsequent years.

    They came on the market in basically two groups,
    and then the 'owner' figured out that he should
    auction them, and the last group went to Great
    Collections.

    Nice info Fred !

    I collected up one major error from the group, a 2007D Cent multi-struck on a large 1.7 gram feeder finger with perfect tip.
    It fills in that USA Cent struck on something aluminum hole for me.

    Big Cowboy 25c is cool, thought about it when it popped up 3 or 4 weeks ago
