Should coins like this be melted?

With the recent thread of the double eagles being melted and with the state of the numismatic values especially dreck and details coins, does it make sense to melt coins this damaged like the one below?
I know its destroying a piece of numismatic history however, culling the dreck could help with short term and long term values by clearing up the market of less desirable pieces...
What do you think?

No. Beyond the destroying numismatic history, or just history in general, there are also those that can't afford to buy a problem free trade dollar and this may be the only option for them to own one. In addition, some people do collect holed coins so it would be a loss for them too!

Even holed and ugly coins need love... and believe it or not... most find someone to love them. As @SiriusBlack said, some collectors have budget restraints. Cheers, RickO
Bullet hole from a wild west shoot out maybe? Even this coin has a history.
ok to melt if the value of the coin is near or below melt. And I agree, there are folks who collect this dreck, just like there are collectors for rocks from different states.
It’s the owners choice. There is a real market for problem coins. I know a dealer who specializes in such.
To answer op: Not if he can retail that above melt.
I say no like as @SiriusBlack said, many people can’t afford a trade dollar (like me) and the problems on the coins help me afford one

Dreck? No way. There is a big market for problem coins as has already been stated. Would you consider a 1795 FH with a great big honking hold punched in it dreck?
Just my eversohumble opinion.

No. It has a story to tell.
