Don't silver coins get altered surfaces in seawater and are designated as 'shipwreck effect'? Kind of like a details coin of sorts? This one appears to have straight graded.
How much is it worth?

I think the key quote in the article is that it wasn't exposed to oxygen, assuming it is actually correct. This explains the surface preservation.
I am amazed at the condition of the coin... I would suspect that the 'box' was water tight and likely some mild restoration was applied....Cheers, RickO

I would love to see a full list of the silver coinage and any base metal, if applicable.
if this is the wreck i am thinking of, i converted their pdf into excel and organized/arranged all the items found in a post on this forum. you will have to dig to find it but shouldn't be too difficult.
i'm sure it is the same wreck but they may have made multiple trips to the site, resulting in multiple lists. not sure.
"Recovered in 2014 with thousands of other dimes in the ship purser’s iron lock box but only recently examined and cataloged, the coin now has been graded PCGS MS65 CAC. It is one of only two known at that grade and with none higher."

i found the post where i uploaded the list and good thing too as i needed to upload the file as an attachment in lieu of it being hosted via my previous method. i will also upload here for convenience.
.
here is the general link for the pdfs that were in the other thread i linked - https://www.shipwreck.net/ - the specific link is now broken.
imagine how difficult it must be to retrieve lumps/groups of coins/collectibles from a big ol compressed pile of hodgepodge like from that top image with with crab. yikes. - knowing that slips and slides can cost BIG time to the overall value of high-end pieces.
the Republic aka Tennessee is linked from the top left under shipwrecks drop-down menu.
here are a couple images/comments.

Nice coin Iike
Amazing that coin stayed in or was restored to that condition. I'm still waiting for these SS Central America dimes to come to market.

A great looking MS64. Too many small marks on the rim and in the obverse fields to meet my standards for MS65.

Always liked the 1856-S dime as a first year of issue with the huge mintmark. This one is wonderful!
