That '09 $5 Indian is really nice.... Based on the picture, I think it merits a 65....Cheers, RickO
There’s a decently big price jump from 64+ to 65 in all gold Indians. That’s a tough hill to climb. You can look at it as an opportunity to pick up a near-gem coin for a bargain.
This was my first plus coin:

I was on the hunt for a 66 but when I saw this, even compared to a lot of 66's I had seen, I had to have it. I'm very happy with how it looks in hand.
Great Thread...some beautiful coins this morning.

Killer strike for a '96...take care...CC
No plus coins in my collection at the moment... Great coins in this thread!
I love that $5 Indian and Bust $10!

Since I collect only by Type (plus my 1936-1942 U.S. Proof Set), rather than collecting by date, my discretionary money for this hobby can thus be allocated among fewer coins. As a result, I often stretch a bit to get coins graded by PCGS with a "+". More modern coins in my Type Sets graded 69 or 70 are not eligible for a "+". As such, in my entire collection, only 103 coins are eligible for a "+", and I'm fortunate that 66 of those 103 coins have that "+". Of those 66, I estimate I purchased about 60% -65% with the "+", and the remaining 35% - 40% got the "+" when I sent them to PCGS for "Reconsideration".
Here's a hotlink to viewing my sets, which are tagged for Public viewing.

This is the one I selected for my type set. The jump to 65 was too big to be worth a marginal difference in the appearance of the coin.
Oh the Reverse
Mine is a 62+ yippeee. The + adds a .30 cent premium over the regular 62. Still, it is a beautiful coin.
This is what I like about the + grade.

There are so many where you have a huge pop before a big jump.
My latest one pop 47/8 (has not arrived yet)

What is in the field at 3 oclock on obverse on 1814? Kind of looks like claw marks?
Those claw marks you ask about are actually 4 sets of clash marks of the eagle’s wing on the reverse.

A 64 + that is sharp and dripping with luster. Oh so close to a 65 and yes it has a CAC sticker!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I have, in my safe deposit box, an AU58+ CAC '27-S Saint. I don't even know what that means. How much better than a circulated coin be than a 58?
A couple more. All AU58+.
Lance.
And this one, a very special O.122 R5.

How many + coins do I have?

Very nice. I've always liked this type. It was my first PCGS coin.
