2019 $2 Rocketship (BEP, B15053) (On sale June 18)

edited June 4, 2019 10:48PM in U.S. Coin Forum

On June 18, MoneyFactory will release the 2019 $2 Rocketship (B15053).

It's going to be a $2 beginning with "2019" in a . (Note their "Happy Birthday" set is a $1 FRN beginning with 2019...) $9.95.

$2 Rocketship (B15053)

This was odd:

Mintage Limit: 24,000
Product Limit: 23,000
Household Order Limit: 50

What are they going to do with the other 1000?

And if you want a lot of them:

Discounted to $8.50 each when ordering 50 or more—volume discount applied in shopping cart

They'll be from the following banks:
New York (B)
Atlanta (F)
San Francisco (L)

Original Post:

Huh.

In addition to the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Currency Set (B15054), which steathily made it way onto the product schedule for sale on July 2, comes another BEP boutique set for sale two weeks earlier.

No details yet (just a blank web page), but a $2 Rocketship product has made the schedule for June 18.

Maybe they're folding a $2 FRN in the shape of a rocket ship. Maybe the $2 FRN will be prooflike.

More details as they... lift off.

$2 Rocketship (B15053)

Announced back in October....regular $2 bill with proof quarters (assuming this hasn't changed since)

Later will come a set of Explore and Discover coins, which will include examples of the one cent through dollar coins plus a blank cent planchet. Late in 2019, look for a youth coin and currency set which would include a set of the five proof America the Beautiful quarters along with a $2 Federal Reserve Note.

Edit: now that I actually READ it ...probably not the Rocketship $2 mentioned.....RATHER THE "Coin & Currency" SET

That's the "Youth" Coin and Currency slated for this fall, as opposed to the $1 Sacabuck C&C which is slated for the "summer". (I would have said "third quarter", but this being a coin forum...) One or the other might be stocking stuffer material...

I wonder if those proof quarters will be "enhanced" proof quarters... With a "W" mint-mark...

    I'd buy one... B)

No, this is a BEP "Premium Currency Product", which means it's an FRN of some sort.

Edit to say: Well, probably not a FRN of some sort, probably a deuce with a special serial number...

Or 43210... (That's a thousand notes per bank and suffix. It's probably be pretty easy for them to get a 5K run...) That might get me to buy one... :D

I just got two. I will play the serial number lottery and separate my orders by a few hours. I love the loyalty program.

    I'll pick up a half-dozen for stocking stuffers, since the C&C set will probably be 19.95 - 24.95... ;)

They're coming from three different banks, so there's a chance three bills will have that S/N.

    New York (B)
    Atlanta (F)
    San Francisco (L)

There's a possibility one of them might make it out into the wild. That would be nice.

Was also thinking 20190716 (Launch date) and 20190724 (Return date) would be winning numbers.

Ooooh I like the launch and return dates too!

I also like it when the last 4 make for an actual date (2019MMDD) -- that could have extra value for someone interested in the date (their birthday or someone they know, anniversary, special event, etc...)

Got some... more than I planned.

Messing around with “DAD” to see if it worked. Confused the phone’s browser. Went to laptop and put the order in. Checked the status of the order on the laptop and lookie there the phone order went through, too, and Dad didn’t work.

AND got the emails saying they both went through. ;)

Glad I wan’t ordering any PM this go around. :o:D

    20190716....launch date
    20190720....Lunar landing
    20190721...first step on the moon
    20190724...return flight splash down

FYI....email from US Mint....my notes are "in the mail"

Anyone notice the 1000 difference in ML and PL?

Saving the 1000 $2 for something else? Maybe already used in other $2 BEP product?

    Thanks for the heads-up @DotStore!

My accidental double order was not a factor in that. ;)

    Edit:

Sold out is a good thing if .... but a bad thing if ....

The coin rocketship, technically, has not sold out but impossible to get at the Mint (unless...) but secondary market prices are Wow!

    I sure wish I could sell $2 for $10.

But no, I pay $10, and sell it years later for $2.

Story of my life and investing success...

I made the mistake of collecting moderns. Trying to quit, but addiction is tough and hard to stop, even when you know better.

But no 2019 Rocket ship purchase for me so far. Avoiding it, One day at a time.
