Do you think this MS67 1902-O Morgan would cross at same grade?

Skrill90Skrill90 Posts: 264 ✭✭✭

Saw this on the bay, looks like a massive gain if this coin could be crossed at same grade into our hosts holder.
What are your opinions do you think it will cross at same grade if submitted?

This 1902-O is showing a very weak strike and has a strange toning over it. I would not waste my money trying to get a 67 or even a 66 out of this one. The price guide for a 1902-O in MS67 is $8,600.00 not $11,000.00 as they are advertising.

    i agree with this

Nope. It’s a weak strike, even for a New Orleans

That coin could even NO GRADE. Centsles is fast approaching 200,000 Ebay feedbacks. Amazing really.

This is the old Centsles that I have come to know and love:

And Centsles takes credit for the + grade revolution....even though coin dealers (and ANACS back in the late 70's and early 1980's) were using it. David Hall/Joel Rettew were using it by 1976....I think Halperin at NERCG was employing it as well. Centsles was very late to the party.

BID ON THIS COIN AS IF IT IS A RAW COIN. SUBMIT FOR GRADING IF YOU CHOOSE AT YOUR OWN RISK. __

PC has been letting weak strikes go gem now starting a year or two ago but ultra gem of 67 and above, for a strike that weak even if the technical would merit it? I have my doubts.

    The more you VAM..

There’s no crossing that coin in that holder. You’d have to crack and submit. I’m not sure this coin gets straight graded. Certainly not as a 67

I'd grade it UNC details questionable color. Not that many years ago, the super weak strike on the hair above the ear would cap this one at MS64, but now coins with comparable strikes are getting into MS65-MS66 holders.

Not even close. The coin is weakly struck for that issue, and the toning is uninspiring, even if it is real.

No - neither does the seller considering he’s blowing it out.

It’s weakly struck and appears have questionable color.

Sold for $2125 which seems "questionable" in how it got there. A high feed back buyer too....so probably a dealer. Only 2 bidders saw this as worth over $900. And they ran each other up at the end. Good luck to the winner.

Senseless has a pile of these big spread to PCGS/NGC in ICG slabs. If they were really that great he would be leaving literally 10’s of thousands cumulatively on the table which I doubt he would do.

I didn't expect it to get that high. I figured maybe a little over a $1000

Those last two "bidders" are also 100% "Bid activity (%) with this seller". I'm always suspicious when I see that.
