ANACS Photo Cert
I thought it would be cool to share a bit of TPG history. This is my one and only ANACS Photo Certificate. From what I can gather, this is an ANACS Photo cert Type 6. Issued from 1983-1985. I don't really know much about these, other than that. If anyone has some links to the history of old "slabs", please let me know. I'm interested in learning more about this one, and other older slabs.
I know some older slabs will often upgrade if resubmitted. Not saying this one would, and I'm noticing some spots that don't seem to have been there when ANACS graded this one.
I'm assuming some of you have some of these, also. Show me some pics! Let me know what you know about them.

Not sure whether rrantique is still ats, but some 8 or so years ago he was deep into collecting ANACS Photo Certificate and had quite a collection. I used to have many photos of his collection but after the major computer crash I had in 2010 I lost them. In fact, he interested me into getting a few to which I did only have one Morgan to upgrade(IIRC). I have always been a supporter of obv and rev grading. But I seem to be in a small minority in this regards.
When a man who is honestly mistaken hears the truth, he will either quit being mistaken or cease to be honest....Abraham Lincoln
Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.....Mark Twain
Reverse looks the same, but obverse sort of looks like a different coin. Hard to tell from the photos.
Sorry about my crappy pics - just quickly shot out a couple cell phone pics to get this out there. It is the right coin. On the Obv, there is a distinctive curved contact scuff mark on Liberty's jaw, a couple vertical contact marks in the field below her chin, and a tiny triangular ding behind her head halfway between her head and the first star next to the 'M' of 'UNUM'.
In hand, I believe it's better than a 63, but definitely not worth resubmitting just to find out. Even if it somehow got a 65, which I highly doubt, it wouldn't be worth the time, money and effort. Besides, I kinda like it in this form, if for no other reason than a conversation piece.

Hope @rrantique is still around, and shares some of his pics, here!

The older photo seems to show a little wear or a weak strike over the ear that I do not see in the newer photo. I think it is the same coin, just looks a little different.
Def the same
I used to see them at coin shows when I lived in Seattle.... I think I may have one... not sure where it is....probably in a box I have not unpacked for the ten years since I moved...
Cheers, RickO
I see what you mean. I think maybe my pic is just hiding the weak strike.
Going back to the pics, I think there might be something on the plastic - looks like a circle around the ear. Gonna have to take a look at the coin again, later this evening.

What you have is NOT and ANACS photocertificate. It is an ANAAB certificate. After the ANA sold ANACS to Amos Press a couple years later they created ANAAB, a service that ONLY did authentications, no grading. ANAAB was active from the early 90's to November 2002 but never saw much in the way of submissions. They had at least four variations/generations on their certificates. I would like to see both sides of the certificate, and can I use the images of it?. From what I see you have an ANAAB 3 certificate used from 1996 to 2000 (The actual certification date is on the back). ANAAB certificates are very scarce to rare. This is only the second ANAAB 3 I have seen, and the other one had been trimmed down to fit inside another holder.

PCGS gave this AU-55

This one got an EF-40

They got the label wrong on this one. It was clashed with the quarter die.
