Machine doubling.
Take a look at this link for what the diagnostics would be. http://www.varietyvista.com/07 Roosevelt Dimes/DDRs 1966.htm
Looks like machine doubling to me too.
I actually looked it up on vista, and both the varieties look very similar, especially the ica of America Nd the st of states, I realized my pics were taken with a dirty lens so I will try to snap a better one or 2
You can take as many pictures as you want, your coin does not look like either 001 or 002. Look at the "A" in states. Your "doubling" is on the wrong side.
Looks like an SMS Roosie, at least from your obverse photo.
One major difference between yours and either example on Vista is on Vista's the CA of AMERICA are connected. On yours they are not. I'm pretty sure in order for you to have the variety all the diagnostics would have to match.
1966 - DDR-001

1966 - DDR-002

On my screen the obverse also looks (machine) doubled as well, as might be expected.
Well that's depressing..
@SilverEagle420
Either of the two listed in Variety Vista. http://www.varietyvista.com/07 Roosevelt Dimes/DDRs 1966.htm
If that is an SMS dime try and look for some diagnostics: die scratches by E in E Pluribus and dot in between; and on the leaves. See link: https://www.doubleddie.com/1570118.html
Interesting !!!
Another difference from both Wexler's site and variety vista's site the doubling is seen on the left side of the letters. On the OP's coin the doubling is on the right side.

classic ejection / mechanical doubling
Don't be depressed. It is the weekend and the Masters is on TV!
You could always book a night at a Holiday Inn Express. That's supposed to make you feel better in the morning.
And don’t forget the waffles.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Ahh yes I am itching to go shot a round myself!
I honestly thought it looked like the 1966 DDR-001, 1-R-V-CW from K-7 stage A, on vista but I'm still a noob at this
You won't find them if you don't look.
Hell they are on rain delay. Maybe back to roll hunting!
Ok one more I'm pretty positive is doubled that I have it's a 1865 3 cent

Nice clashing but not a doubled die, sorry.
We used to call this "Longacre doubling," not sure if that term is still in vogue.
3 cent piece also looks like machine doubling
Vista doesnt have diagnostics on it so I'm gonna send it in anyway
Nice three center, though.
@SilverEagle420
DD vs other forms if doubling.

Mystery solved I suppose, here is a better picture of the area I was talking about on the dime
On the 1865 3c CN:
Yes, this is correct and still current.
Notice that the letters are outlined on all sides.
Basically the letter punches were set a little bit too deep when making the master die,
and the outline around the letters is actually the shoulder of the punch.
"Longacre doubling" also commonly occurs on Indian Head Cents.

Nice clashing and reverse die crack, though. (Also commonly seen).
I did stay at one of those once.
The breakfast room is QUITE impressive ! I can't think of anything that they don't have.
The automatic pancake machine was a riot !
Machine doubling on the dime and clashing and MD on the three cent coin.... Cheers, RickO
OMG I hate it when I find a $100K variety and then find it is not and worth face
100K seems like a lot of green for a modern dime double die. has one sold at auction? where do these prices come from?
I searched it and clicked the first article, and its said anywhere from.4k to 125k depending on which variety, according to vista there is on 4 total, 1 of a certain variety and 3 of the other
that dime on the top looks neat for machine doubling. I kind a like it
To me it looked the the TES were extending out further than the top letters, that's why I though it wasnt machine but I like the dime too, it has nice toning
Nice cameo SMS coin
Ok this is gonna sound terrible, but what is SMS, you guys keep saying it but I've never heard that term
Special Mint Set ( SMS )
Ok thanks
