Blasted by a blizzard and bored!

I had a late season camping trip snowed on in September and today the town is closed for yet another major snow event. 8 months in a row with snow in the picture. Did the earth tilt yet or what? The daylight is longer and the Robins are back in town, so I’m thinking spring is close, but thought that last week. This just adds more pressure to pack in what I can in the 4 months without it.
Slept in a little, made a stong coffee, then organized my albums collection by favorites and most played, starting with the Beatles. Splurged on some new home stereo speakers last week and listening to all my favorites, almost for the first time. We rallied the kids on a blow through de-clutter house cleaning session and now getting pretty bored.
Took a break and dug out some coins. Almost forgot how much I like some of them. A quick cell phone shot of this Type 1, 1913 D buff to share. I don’t have many buffs, but I always liked the texture of the fields on the Type 1’s.
Whatcha guys got? I’m stuck at home and looking at my computer. Would be sweet to see something cool you’ve never posted. Thanks!

Trade ya. We've had 30-40 mph winds here all week. For a while it's mildly entertaining. After three days, I'm ready to go bonkers. Apparently, yelling at it to stop doesn't help.
Never posted...... hmmmmmmm. When I get home I'll look.
Oh, we have winds! My least favorite of all normal weather conditions. One year I marked the calendar 90 days of high or noticeable strong winds. Looks like I’ll mark this day down too.
In the 80's here!
Since you asked for something we've never posted before that's cool (don't know if they're cool but I like them), here's some Longines Symphonette Sterling Medals from the 70s. Others have posted them before. The high relief is really nice. I only have maybe 5 of the over 60 set.
Enjoy your snow day!
We have been blasted by rain and now wind the last 2 days, and many of our rivers are flooding here in Oregon. I would rather have the snow back.

That is a very nice buff and it sure has strong attributes of a 67.
Here's some stuff I've bought raw and had graded.
The snow is just starting here. Your location looks beautiful covered in snow.
@clarkbar04
Those are all great, but I love that 1916..... a perfect example of toning accentuating the design.
What does the December 4, 1778 date reference on the 1783 dated Washington medal? Washington's farewell happened in 1783. The 1778 date was in the middle of the War.
Thanks for sharing! I like the medals a lot!
Snow days are like a surprise day off and fosters character flexibility. But I've had at least 6 this year, dang it! On one hand, it takes away productivity and on the other, forces you to take a look and develop other aspects of life, which is healthy, I'd say.
Great group of stunners! Thanks for sharing them!
The buff I posted was one of those coins you see walking a bourse that you know is killer without even leaning over to look at it. It was love at first sight, but I denied the urge to go off my focus.......there's killer stuff all around at a coin show! After I got home I couldn't stop thinking about it and it really captured my interest and I simply couldn't shake it.. I didn't know the guys name that was selling it, but I knew his table mates name so I called him and asked for the contact of his friend, which I got and eventually struck a deal with. I suppose I could do a short run of M/PF Type 1's.....This coin could kick it off.
Thanks! I hope you don't get anything serious.
I never noticed that. I just looked at a few others online, and they all say December 4, 1783, not 1778. I guess I have an error
I'll have to do some digging.
I'm here in N.W. Ohio and no snow...I did hear about that last ditch effort by winter, yet, the old man hasn't advanced in these parts. Hold fast!
Good luck digging out. We have been without power the past 24 hours due to high Santa Ana winds. Dodging palm fronds hurtling through the air like wayward javelins

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Probably should wait to get the patio cushions out. Not looking to stop snowing till 12 noon tomorrow, haha.

Oh well, I can still get a few coins out and play. This Lincoln has a look I just love. Crisp detail, luster and chocolate brown. This no line fatty is crisp as the day it was made, not a scratch on it.
It's a beautiful day in Hawaii. Here's my resent pick-up. It's not coin related, but what the heck !!!
@PocketArt Super nice 1921 PL!
No snow here... spring in full bloom.... daffodils and tree buds....mid 50's during the day.... I do not want any more winter... Cheers, RickO
Got a buddy who got lucky and got a flight out of Denver yesterday. Stay warm!
80s here. Took the cab cover off (for the relentless GA pollen) and the doors off the jeep for the first ride of the season this past weekend. Wifey wanted some ice cream.
I think that you do have an error indeed. And your finding of others with the correct date indicates that the error was caught and corrected. Next question is how many of each variety were made or exist?
I Googled December 4, 1778 and nothing particularly important happened in the Revolutionary War that day.
Jeep'n looks like fun! You have to get that in EVERY chance you can, nicely done friend. I've seen GA pollen visiting my buddy in ATL. It's no joke. Looked like green snow.....lime green clouds behind cars as they drive by and even had to clear the windshield every morning. Crazy. He was amazed that somehow I was immune to the effects on the sinuses not being from there.
Any coins to post?
C'mon down .......
Just what’s in my pocket.
I like a good snow day. It's warm here though, very much like spring in NC.
No new coin pictures, but I'll see if I can find a coin here at work to shoot for this thread!

What is a snow day?
I feel your pain......I had to brush the pool last night after work because some algae was building up - what a hassle!
I feel guilty. Jumped in my pool last 3 days here in InSaneDiego. Pool temp was 72 deg out side. Only Sun shine heated.
New Ice age coming?

Kind of a disappointment as far as April blizzards around here...

Well it’s still coming down but thought I’d go ahead and try to start digging out. It’s the wet, heavy kind, gross...

Took a break and went back inside to check out more coins, why not. I havnt got my flyers out in a while. This is them.
The first one I picked up was the 1857 from Rick at FUN one year. I forgot how rich the russet toning was. I like it more than I remember.
The large and small 58s came eventually. The one is toned up some and the other more blond and foil like. The pattern came along last from an early Legend auction. I’m open to add a 1854 but last time I saw one offered it was a MS65 and out of my comfort zone on price. The token came local from a buddy who knows I dig flying eagles.
Guess I’ll go shovel some more while I wait to see what you guys can add! I appreciate everyone’s responses so far!
Wow on those snow piles, and double wow on those flyers!!
Thanks! You know we’re not hurting or anything, actually doing quite well. Sitting by the fireplace with the dogs and cooking complicates recipies. That’s why I said I’m just bored. And you know what’s setting under all that snow,,,,grass! It’s under there and I’ll be mowing any day now. With 50s forecasted, there will be some people with water damage and inconvenienced with flooded roads, but most are safe.
Also why I have a plow! Best thing ever for around here. Pretty fun to use too.

Those Flyers are beautiful! Congrats! While it's been shown before on here a few times, it's still a new purchase that I love and designed by the same guy:
My $3 which I'm proud to add to the type set:

Thanks for posting! I love the agricultural wreath! Looks great in gold. Your coin looks great in AU58.
Many Three Dollar Gold PIeces had low mintages which resulted in some coins with strong luster. The dies were not used long enough to dull the die polishing. Here is an example.
Those are some impressive FE cents! I have a buddy that lives in the idaho panhandle. He spends most of the winter plowing snow, I think. So much so he bought a kubota tractor to do it.
I'll post another coin.

Left work early to beat any rush and the storm itself kinda fizzled, but after last month's bomb cyclone blizzard, the snow here in Denver was quite beautiful.
Gonna get me a $50 Octagonal someday. Some. Day.
Wow, your pool temperature is warm. I’m in Mission Viejo and pool temperature was only 66 Sunday.
Mammoth California 2 weeks ago. Mountain will be open through July 4 weekend.
Tha'ts some snow right there, man! Wow!
What was the base there? I just checked and was a bit surprised to see Timberline on Mt. Hood in OR was "only" at 144".
There were a few impressive snow years when I used to live in that part of the state the base was 230". The uppermost lift was opened for the first time one day I was there, and they had to plow out a path for the chairs to go up, and my board was dragging on the ground.
@WildIdea Thank you!
@BillJones very nice $3!

I can't say how many, but I will eventually have to get a correct one to have the set.
I would have assumed that the more common error on pieces like this are mules.
How many skiers are in this photo and which ones are carrying coins? (Hint: Don't count the ones who missed the big curve and went off the edge.)
I was gonna let this thread die, but you guys won’t let it!
That storm just parked and spun on us for two plus days! Woke up to this early as I got ready to go plow again.

Shoveled a spot for the dogs and I was right about the grass. It’s pretty green under there. Thankfully, back at work today, couldn’t organize another closet this week.
We got some laughs and some quality time together and all set for a great weekend.
I would love to shoot some pics again, but despite all my cleaning, I couldn’t turn up the chip for the camera
Here’s the 16s in my Lincoln set.
Thanks for checking in everyone!
This thread is too good to let die.
I've lived in Texas for the last 15 years. I grew up near Boston, then spent years in NYC. I miss the snow! Seriously. I know it stinks to shovel and drive in it. But I miss the changing of the seasons a lot.
I just purchased this 35 Buff and I’ve gotta say it looks like it just came off the die. The luster is booming.
