I haven't been here long, but it seems to be improving even in the short time I have been here. I think there was a post recently that the number of names on the first names list is at an all-time high. Everyone seems to be helpful and there isn't a lot of complaining. Sometimes a little complaining is ok though. I have made several trades and acquisitions that I wouldn't have made otherwise. Thanks to all the members here.

I agree Robert.
I think some might be concerned with posting something for fear of hearing "crickets."
My advice? Post away!
Even if one reaches just a few? That's the way things get started, IMO.
Getting some of the familiar faces from our past back helps also.
Bunch of hard nosed guys back in 2008 when I started out here. Much kinder, respectful board member these days. Must be the mellenials I was really happy to see the BBCE group break take off. Really happy to see the activity.

I’m new and I love this place despite the fact that I literally know no one here. I try to act like my mom reads my posts before I hit send. Silly, I know, but it makes a big difference.
@Stone193
I agree that variety is the spice of life. Collect what appeals to the eye at prices you can afford and you’ll always be happy with your collection.
And I think sharing what you like with others has a way of increasing the popularity (and perhaps value, for those interested) of some items.
Lastly - and I bring it up often - these boards helped me land a white whale and for that I am forever grateful. The card below is one I never (ever) thought I’d own, it is only the 2nd ever graded by PSA and it got me to just one card away from the only complete PSA graded set; and this card found me on the CU forums:
1951 Wheaties Premium Photos Phil Rizzuto B
Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?

Stone, Tim, Slum, Kendall, others set a great tone. I was intimidated by some of the mid 2000s guys but not anymore.
I once asked what OC was! Today I’m sure the replies would be kinder. (In case anyone is really new, OC = an off center PSA qualifier).
My favorite forum.

Agreed...…. been a PSA member since 2001 and finally joined "the family" in the community forum. Started reading some posts after Mr. Sloan sent the turnaround times email at the first of February. I was surprised at the friendliness, sincerity and happiness amongst collectors for sharing their "finds" and knowledge about our collecting endeavors. Think I'll stick around. Great place, great people.
I am glad to see so much more traffic on here. it was great to see the group break be so popular. It had been quite awhile since that had happened. unopened is not really my thing, but it was a blast to read all the posts and see the enthusiasm. I hope more of those happen in the near future.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
It's the conflict that makes it interesting.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
I have been around now for a decade on these boards. Hard to believe. I'm a hockey guy so am in the minority for collecting focus of this board, but I enjoy learning about the hobby from all of you.
I didn't think I'd ever learn about wrestling cards, about Juan Soto, or about wacky packages mc cards, but am glad I now do. I'm glad that there is less conflict these days. Enough negativity out there in the real world.
I wish the B/S/T forum was more active. I guess in the days with PWCC and escalation of rookie cards and "blue chip" cards, fixed sales to this forum community is seen as leaving money on the table. In the end, I'd rather sell and buy here.

I've seen some monumental train wrecks over the years but they're hardly memorable.
Every year a handful of people join together to rip Heritage.
There's a numerous supply of BBCEx collaborative offerings.
We've helped people in distress from time to time.
We've had some fun discussions on the hobby.
People have shared their personal perspective on the hobby...
We've had some interesting "white whale" threads over the years.
People have "alerted" others to numerous pitfalls; whether it be eBay or "other."
This forum is still entitled the "Community Forum" - a platform for communication.
If there were conflict each and every day? It would sure seem like work to me and most of us already have a full time job.
Well, not me. Fully retired.
Brand new to the board here as I’ve recently became a collector(again), and have had great convos with everyone as well as great advice! I’m about sign up for the membership as I have a great lot of vintage cards I can’t wait to get graded!
Thank you for the kind words, han_soto. I hope that I can be a positive influence around here as a moderator, and it is a bonus that I can now "talk cards" with you all as well. Connecting with other hobbyists, even though we rarely collect the same things, is my favorite part of the hobby.
You are also correct in your assessment of Jackie. She does an incredible job for PSA, and she is incredibly busy. Hopefully my being here helps lessen her load a bit.
I echo all sentiments above about this board. It's the best I've seen it. I was a mere reader for many many years, and so I've seen the train wrecks that Mike ( @Stone193 ) mentioned. And, believe it or not, those train wrecks were part of the reason I didn't jump into the fray and start posting. It's only in the last year or so that I've seen the culture around here improve significantly. As @Frozencaribou said, "I didn't think I'd ever learn about wrestling cards, about Juan Soto, or about wacky packages mc cards, but am glad I now do." I love cracking open a beer at night and sitting down to read the threads and gaze at the cards everyone posts.
Let's keep this thing going.
ETA: You know what I REALLY love about this place? The sense of humor. I freakin' love the sense of humor. I just had to add that.
Andy
They don't happen often, but some train wrecks have to happen.
-You cant let someone scam free cards from good members under the ruse that it's for him and his sons.
-You cant let someone organize 1975 mini box breaks and send out resealed packs.
-You can't let...........
Those of you that have been here a while get the point.
Can't argue with you Nick - they will and "have" to happen in certain instances.
I do think there's a difference between that and some who come to stir crap strictly for sport and entertainment.
Yeah this board is great.
I joined July 1, 2001. Some of the wild posts we went through on the board did keep it very interesting. I'm sure some of the old guys like me remember WIWAG, JoeStalin, and of course Brian Wentz. Brian the the first guy that convinced me the Gretzky Wagner was trimmed.
We all thought that we were going to get rich on 2006 Football - Reggie! Reggie! Reggie!.
I was less active during 2009-2012 but always found my way back.
I am lumped into some pretty lofty company here. I appreciate the kind words. I actually am just coming back to these boards after a hiatus. I was very active from about 2012-2015 or so and then drifted away when there seemed to be a lot of drama and people getting kicked off. I am happy I have returned and I agree with the OP's message that the board does indeed seem to be getting back to a better place. And that is all about the members, new and old, that make up the community.
Coin nerd alert!
I am really enjoying this side of the site!!
Great comraderie here, trading, and a few helpful people have explained things to me. I still cannot figure out how to access or see the PSA registry sets you all have.
I have held steady at #3 for a while now and hope to stay there for a few more years
Here is a link to my favorite set https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/nickels/jefferson-nickels-specialty-sets/jefferson-nickels-fs-complete-variety-set-circulation-strikes-proof-1938-present/publishedset/142753
349 coin set with every accepted die variety spanning 1938-2019
I have spent a few years playing in the US Coins Forum here, but I am kind of burned out over there with the non stop trolling and absurd posts from some newer members. It is a nice change of pace to haunt the trading cards arena.
The Topps 2019 thread totally got me back into baseball, and I have watched several games in the last two weeks (youtube) and bought a bunch of cards (too many? Nah)
Thanks folks
Best wishes
Rocco

I am new here, but I have to say I sure am having a lot of fun. It's exciting to read all of the latest threads, and keeping up to date on everyones latest collecting adventures! It's like being at the beach!⛱
Loving the board lately and the sport talk section is now a once a day visit. Love the debates on there as well as all the knowledge shared. I’ve learned a ton about baseball on there.
Great forum without a doubt.
For the wonderful hobbies of card and coin collecting, it's the finest forum out there, by far in my opinion.
May the CU forum be alive and well for many years to come.
I'm glad to see this boarding gaining momentum again. We have great moderators in Todd, Mike and company.
"Common sense is the best distributed commodity in the world, for every man is convinced that he is well supplied with it"
I know facebook groups seem all the rage right now, but I still prefer CU. I guess that makes me a dinosaur. Im ok with that.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Cardboard collecting is alive & well. It's nice to read the stories from collectors re-entering this strange market place
Buy all the Bryce Harper cards you can.
+100! He earned a spot on my RC want list.
Feels great to be a Phil's fan
I just wanted to add.
Thank you to Jackie for her positive and compassionate leadership of our Forum - moving forward.
