Newp. Haven't had one for 30 years. 1796 Quarter

Yeh, it's low grade and the reverse looks like a goose pizza, but the obverse still has a nice complete portrait and a teeny bit of cleavage, an eye and a hair or two.

Didn't want one bad enough to go into five figures. :D

I think it's graded right. Another trip to the store and I think she'd be gone. :D

The 1796 quarter is a cool coin. It’s the first year of the denomination; one year type coin; the only quarter with the Small Eagle design type; the only US quarter minted in the 18th century; first year type coin; etc.

There are a lot of reasons to include it in your collection which is very cool!

There’s a lot of coin there for the grade. This would be my sort of coin should I get up the courage & funds to chase one someday. Very cool. Enjoy it.

I am. :) For some reason ever since I was a kid, whenever I spoke of "rare" coins I always referred to "a 1796 quarter" as at the time it seemed nothing could ever be rarer. :D

But...... as I said in the OP, I didn't want to get real spendy on one.
When I saw this one and the decent obverse, I had to get it.

For some reason the grade doesn't displease me at all.

Of course lately I'm tending to buy coins with a modicum of "risk consideration." For my regular "new" philosophy, I'm sticking with gold unless, like this one, I get seduced. ;)

You did get a Good-4 for the obverse, which is the more important side.
