65 even with the cheek issue. It's a really nice coin
HAPPY COLLECTING
Nice coin, but a hellofa gauge..
I'd call it a technical 65 for the hits. The fields and the rest of the cheek as well as the reverse are clean enough to keep it at a 65. I think it got a grade bump for color to 66.
Which never made sense to me...
65 easy, maybe a 66.

66, clean up the obverse with the Weimans and she'd really be pretty. Congrats!

I completely agree. Assign the actual grade and let the market price it. That simple.
65.

My thoughts also.

65 all day long
Ms66.
Beautiful elevation chromatics.

Cheek hit and hits above head limit it.
Beautiful!
Agreed, as the distractions show up well on both sets of photos. Just too much to push the coin over the ms65 hump imo. Nice coin, all the same.
MS66...
65 despite the obv tone and cheek hit
I agree completely with jtlee321. The cheek hit should keep it at MS 65 but the color gets it back to MS 66.
IMHO the color is not real, but the services have all but given up discerning this.
The coin has hits, but a really nice field in front of Ms Liberty, the grader has less than a minute to decide.
So, MS 67
64+ QC.
65+ and looks NT to me

I think AT also
MS64. Too much "chatter" under the toning. Still a very nice coin.
I am guessing the grade assigned my opinion on an accurate grade is MS 64One minute to grade the coin maximum time allowed. Looks at cheek and fields in front of Ms Liberty, color is distracting the flaws. Dreck

64+ if given the choice of as + grade.

My first thought was 66, but those reed hits over the head probably make it 65.

Always buying nice toned coins! Searching for a low grade 1873 Arrows DDO Dime and 1842-O Small Date Quarter.
Think the gouge is a strike through small wood chip which may not affect the grade but can effect the desireability of it either direction.
I know the coin so won’t give a grade
Well there are two correct answers!
My 66+ was the most accurate!

Here is the TruView from the 67.
If you zoom in under the “U” of Pluribus, are those hits from the reeding of another coin (when it was in a bag)? Or is it some type of strike through?
Although I’m not sure which grade is correct, I would disagree with the AT sentiment. It looks NT/MA to me and similar to other straight graded examples.
bump for color 66

@U1chicago ...those are 100% reed hits all day long...and on a higher note (ahh I love notes when I’m high), looks like it’s time to start sending some subs in again
You've gotta be kidding me....
wow... I said 64 because of the cheek hit and the digs under the "U" in E PLURIBUS. Maybe the grader gave more weight to the reverse of this coin which is free of major distractions...

My initial impression (and I got here late) was 65..... I am surprised at 67.... Oh well... In hand, perhaps... Cheers, RickO
That would almost certainly not be the case.

Would you sign your name to that slab being the grader? Maybe not
a bad idea.
