Today was one of them. Coin tripled in price during live bidding. Looks kind of cool!

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Congratulations!
U.S. Type Set
That's really nice. Very unique.
Congratulations!! I know the feeling. There is an auction coming up with a coin that I don't want to lose.
To prevent that from happening, I always discipline myself with a plan of a strict bid limit on each coin or card that I really must have.....
.....then with around a minute to go in the auction, that plan sometimes goes right out the window.
I lost one over the weekend. I bid strong but not strong enough, as my heart was not fully into it.
However, when my mind Is made up and I am resolute; I am tough to beat.
Congratulations! That's an interesting piece.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

This thread displays very clear a dangerous train of thought that I myself have partaken in.

Life is short literally ...... don't bother me a bit this very second was gone in a sec Live ON
Congrats! Sometimes you just have to go for it!
Love the old ANACS small slabs and this one is an error too!
Things change. When the small white ANACS slabs were in current usage they were regularly disparaged by most large dealers and many smaller ones as well. Now there seems to be a certain nostalgia for them, but there are limits. The top "sticker" won't be found on them. I wonder if that is actually being viewed as a positive thing by many current collectors?
Note: I sold some coins in small white ANACS slabs to a dealer last year. He still disparaged them when it was time to buy. Don't go overboard when buying them.
You may not feel like getting outbid but do you feel like getting buried?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

"Everything you say should be true, but not everything true should be said."----Voltaire
Depending on the price, I might not mind being buried for something I really want.
Sometimes i am forced to eat at the local soup kitchen because i bid too high and spent all my money on coins and cards.
Actually their tomato soup is not that bad.
You only go around once, PH.
And I figure if I get to Heaven, coin shops will be few and far between.
Uh oh! Hope it's not the same coin that I don't want to lose!
If it is, you're gonna lose!!
YOU are going to the place of ALL coin shops.
Even hamburgers will be on bid boards that aren't maintained.
At least plenty of stuff will be available at melt.
nice pick up. that should fit into the collection just fine
Nice addition!

Seems you won at a fairly reasonable price right??
.
That's not much of a bargain if it IS melted.
Sorry to be a contrarian, but I've been collecting for over 50 years. I can count on one hand the number of coins which sing to me. If they don't sing to me, I set my max bid, and forget it.

If I absolutely have to have it, I put in a nuclear bid at the last ten seconds and watch the frenzy....laughing all the way to my win... Cheers, RickO
I do nuclear bids on stuff I must have you never know when hard to find stuff pops up again
