**BBCE GROUP BREAK IS ON: UPDATE 4.1 79 Topps Hockey Box added to Final Product -- See 1st POST**

slum22slum22 Posts: 2,593 ✭✭✭✭

BREAK OVERVIEW/RULES

1) All requests are first-come-first-served based on posting sequence in the reservation thread.

2) The break is scheduled to start at 5:00PM Pacific/8:00PM Eastern Sunday March 3, 2019. To simplify matters, I will start a new thread on Sunday for reservations. As soon as that thread is up, the break is live and reservations can be made ON THAT NEW THREAD. I will do my best to get it up right at 5:00PM Pacific. Remember, these are just packs and boxes of cards and this is supposed to be fun, so if I post a few minutes earlier or later don't be upset about it.

3) When the break ends, I will post the final results and amounts owed as soon as I can thereafter. Please do not send payments to BBCE until after the final results are posted. Steve Hart at BBCE wants to be present at the shop to help his staff with our payment processing so please do not send payments early.

4) In the first 24 hour period, ending at 4:59PM Pacific Monday March 4, each person may request up to 2 packs/racks from any/all products.

5) In the first 24 hour period, ending at 4:59PM Pacific Monday March 4, each person may request up to 1 box from any/all cases being broken.

6) In each 24 hour period after the first 24 hours, i.e. Mon 5:00PM Pacific - Tue 4:59:59PM Pacific and Tue 5:00PM Pacific - Wed 4:59:59PM Pacific, you may request up to 2 additional packs/racks from any/all products that remain available.

7) In each 24 hour period after the first 24 hours, i.e. Mon 5:00PM Pacific - Tue 4:59:59PM Pacific and Tue 5:00PM Pacific - Wed 4:59:59PM Pacific, you may request up to 1 additional box from any/all cases that remain available.

8) From 5:00PM Pacific Wed March 6 on, you may make additional requests for as many remaining packs/racks/boxes as you desire from any/all products offered.

9) If you would like an empty wax box, cello box, rack box or case you may request any of the these in the thread. If multiple people want the same box then I will random the empty box using random.org. No one will receive more than one empty box/case until all requestors have had the opportunity to be considered for at least one empty box/case.

10) Please reply to this thread with your pack/box requests. REQUESTS VIA PM WILL BE INVALID. All requests MUST be publicly posted in the thread in order to be valid, and will be listed in the order received.

11) Have Fun! I doubt we will have any problems as we seem to have an excellent group of collectors here. But... if you miss out on a product in the quantity you want please remember this is a hobby and we are all lucky enough to be able to spend our time and money on a hobby. If you find you can't help but be upset, please refrain from typing angry messages on here. Instead click here and donate what you were planning on spending towards something else that's valuable to someone else: https://www.charitywater.org/

**BBCE WRAPPING:

Wrapping your rack packs and/or boxes with the BBCE wrapping and labelling is optional. If you choose to do it it will be $8 per item. For rack packs that includes the rack pack holder and the wrapping/labelling. For boxes, it covers the wrapping/labelling. Steve cannot wrap individual cello or wax packs. **

All USPS orders will be calculated at a flat rate of $6.00.

Thanks to akuracy503 for getting the ball rolling with his thread on BBCE group rips. I have been in contact with Steve at BBCE and hev is amenable and excited to hosting another group rip for us. I am starting this thread to get product ideas. Please post any product you would be interested in buying a slot for. If someone else has already posted a product, please still cast a vote for that product as I think it will be helpful to see which products are in most demand. Now is not the time to be a lurker! If you want a product this is the time and place to be heard. The more people who vote and the more they vote, the more likely we are to get more products reserved for our break. I will try and keep this first post updated with requests/votes as often as possible, but I do have a day job so bear with me :) Thanks to all who participate.

**EDITED TO ADD: Some have mentioned a preference to keep the group break suggestions less public to avoid the risk of product being purchased by parties concerned with losing out to the group break. If you would rather send your suggestions to me via PM, then that is fine too. I will keep a running tally on any requests that come via PM. **

UPDATE 2/27/19

I wanted to update everyone with the progress of the break:

First some very good news: Steve has extended to us a 5% discount on products being purchased within this break. As he is obviously having trouble keeping inventory in stock (look at his 70's BB inventory) at regular prices I think this is a generous offer for us.

Here is a preliminary list of products that I have reserved with Steve. We can still add to the list (and I plan to). We can also remove products if there are any that don't seem popular.

Basketball

1980-81 Topps Basketball Wax Box w/ Bird Magic showing
1988 Fleer Basketball Wax Box

Baseball

1978 OPC wax box Tape Intact
1981 Topps rack box
1981 Topps wax box
1982 Donruss Baseball Wax Case (FASC) $1900 list price case
1982 Topps wax box
1982 Topps baseball cello box
1983 Topps wax boxes
1983 Topps rack box
1986 Donruss Rack Case
1987 Donruss Wax box Case (FASC)
1993 Topps Series 1 Wax Case (while this is a sealed case, Steve cannot wrap these boxes as such because they will already have Topps logo wrapping on them)

Golf

2001 SP Authentic Box
2014 Upper Deck SP Game Used Edition Golf Box (Hobby)
2014 Upper Deck SP Authentic Golf Case (Hobby) (12 Box)

Football

1976 Topps Football Cello Box
1981 Topps Cello Box
1984 Topps Wax Box
1987 Topps UK American Box

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Steve has graciously pulled both 80-81 BK boxes for us so we have our choice of either 1980-81 Topps BK Wax Box. Please post or PM me your vote. The choices are:

1980-81 Topps BK Wax Box ($158.33/ pack)
1980-81 Topps BK Wax Box with one pack Magic Bird showing ($184.72/ pack)

Shipping is not factored in currently.

The vote is currently 6-0. I need to let Steve know by tonight which one we want, so only votes posted or sent to me by 9 pm Pacific today on 2/27/19 will be counted.

Another Important Note:
The 1980 BK Box vote appears to be a landslide as it is currently unanimous in favor of the Bird Magic showing box. Hopefully this vote will be just as easy. There are two 1982 Donruss FASC options available. One is a completely sealed case that would be opened for us. If your goal is to wrap your box from that case and leave unopened the wrapping will be an additional $8. The second case was factory sealed and opened by Steve and the boxes are already wrapped. The completely sealed case is $2000, the already opened but also already labelled FASC and wrapped case of boxes is $1900. I think it is a no brainer we take the $1900 case. Here is the breakdown.

82 Donruss Wax Box Case (still sealed): $95/box unwrapped, $103/box wrapped
82 Donruss Wax Box Case already wrapped FASC: $90.25/box

Seems like a no brainer to me but, I am a consensus maker so lay your votes on me. Right now the cheaper option is winning 1-0 with my first vote.

We can still add or remove products, so please PM me or post here with recommendations. Thanks!

Steve

I think it will be easier for us if the potential product list can be viewed in the first post as opposed to on the second page. So just to make that easier, I will start a new thread asking for suggestions for products for our break, so that we can get a working list going.

I would ask for suggestions via PM so if someone is watching, it won't disappear like the 85 Donruss rack case.

Hmm... I had not thought about that. I sort of figured it would be easiest to post on here what people were interested in. I will leave that up to the group. If people would prefer to send their suggestions via PM to me then that is ok with me as well.

Steve will generally hold items if a Cu group break is being run. Just keep him advised of what is wanted and he will set it aside

    80/81 BKB wax box
    1977 FB wax box
    1972 FB wax box
    1988/89 Bkb wax box
    1976 FB cello

I think if we could get a couple of big ones (80/81 Bkb 1972 FB) better chance of possibly getting a price break.

Thanks for the input everyone. Keep the suggestions coming here or via PM. I am noting them all.

I am compiling a list and if there is sufficient demand for any products I will advise Steve to reserve them for us as we go. There are some that I see already as having a good demand based on this thread and akuracy503's thread.

That is awesome. Great rip for you. Were any of the Bird Magic's gradable? Yes, I have dealt with Steve for years as well and he is as good as gold. One of the stand up dealers in the hobby. I sold my 80-81 box a couple years ago. I forget, are there 24 or 36 packs per box? Also, are you interested in any products for the break? Thanks,

Can someone clarify if the wrapped 80s football cases are not FASC? I don’t think they are but if Steve is confident the contents are original, that’d be good enough for me.

Dane, I will include a question about this in my next email to Steve tonight. I am guessing they are not FASC, as he seems to explicitly state that on other items where they are FASC.

Yes, that is what I thought. In his email, Steve apologized for the dearth of 70's product at his present levels and noted this would be a largely 80's break.

yes, the 1 o/c one went into my pack pulled rookie box which im not worried about getting graded and the other two and pack have been in my “to be sub’d” box ever since. prolly drop them off at national this year along with a good mix of other stuff. pick up another box and rip, rinse, wash, repeat. but one has a strong shot at a 9. the other has the lil black print line and maybe an 8.

as for items interested, im really open to it all. the ‘80 case was appeasing bc i havent pulled a hendo for my self-pulled rc collection. but im in for some 70s baseball or i could even do something alot more current and go for the ‘93 jeter or ‘97 pmg green jordan. i’ll even settle for a psa 1 there! 😉

Good luck on the sub. I did check and it looks like the 80-81 box is 36 packs. I will leave it up to the group but I think it would be worth the extra $30 or so per pack to have him break the 80-81 box with the Magic Bird showing. I think it would be cool to have a 1 in 36 chance at that pack.

I know there are not a lot of vending fans, but I believe they just cracked a case of 83 Topps vending. I'd definitely be in for a box or two of those.

Steve, i'd like to request some golf product if i may -- the 01 UD SP authentic box & the 14 UD SP game used hobby box. count on Kyle and me to get the ball rolling (pun 1,000% intended), and we'll vaporize them completely if there is not enough demand.

also, we talked about busting a couple of cases -- 12 UD SP authentic hobby (slightly < $100/box) and 14 UD SP authentic hobby (slightly > $100/box). dunno if we can collectively make these vanish, but there's only one way to find out.

what, no one wants a Tiger Woods card? that 64k spectacle last night didn't get the juices flowing?

$6000 Basketball Box has been pulled from BBCE site...this must be your winner! Good Luck if so...

Ok, that sounds good. Any possibility for the 1977 FB wax box? If not, how bout the 1988 Fleer BKB?

I emailed Steve to reserve some of the bigger boxes for us. Included in my list were: 1980-81 BK, 1988 Fleer BK and 1976 Cello FB. I will confirm that he has reserved those for us in my next email.

Steve, i'd like to request some golf product if i may -- the 01 UD SP authentic box & the 14 UD SP game used hobby box. count on Kyle and me to get the ball rolling (pun 1,000% intended), and we'll vaporize them completely if there is not enough demand.

also, we talked about busting a couple of cases -- 12 UD SP authentic hobby (slightly < $100/box) and 14 UD SP authentic hobby (slightly > $100/box). dunno if we can collectively make these vanish, but there's only one way to find out.

what, no one wants a Tiger Woods card? that 64k spectacle last night didn't get the juices flowing?

    thank you for spearheading!

You're welcome Stephen. Don't worry, I got you, I had already looked at the Golf Products last night. I will try to reserve the 01 SPA box for sure. Are the TIger Autos in that box live or are they redemptions (expired). Either way, that is a cheap price to pull a RC of El Tigre. I don't know much about golf products outside of that box so I will defer to you or Kyle (or another golf head) to PM me your best ideas for another case/box.

Which 1980 basketball box? The one with the Bird/Magic showing or other one? Just wondering which one the group voted to break.
