I know some of you still use albums like me, look what happened to my Whitman Classic!

Maybe I opened it one too many times?? It's the Washington Quarters. This has made me decide to probably get a Dansco 7140.

It happens eventually. The Library of Coins albums were sturdier.
You know it's a classic
How old is it?
I have only had it for two years and I bought it new. I might pick up a Library of Coins if I find one to compare.
Two years old
It might be hard to find. The Library of Coins albums have not been made for years. They are almost collectors’ items. Even they wear out eventually. I wore an Indian Cent album when I was a teenager.
I would buy another Classic Whitman cover or album, then you could just change pages rather than all the coins ... Dansco albums do the same when they are full and heavy
I might do that.
I try to avoid Dansco since I really don't like brown album color. Whitmans blue or Intershields/Littletons green looks so much better for raw coins.
I prefer the older Whitman 'bookshelf' albums. I have several-some for over thirty years. A good source for these and other discontinued albumns is Chief Coins and Supplies out of Wisconsin.
The Whitman Classic albums were discontinued in 1978 and replaced by the Whitman Bookshelf albums which are still sold today. It is still possible to find some titles of the Whitman Classic albums in their original packaging ... 41 years later!
I stand corrected. The albumns I have and and referred to are not the 'Bookshelf' albumns. They are the 'Classic' ones. I have been happy with these, and as I stated above have had some for over thirty years. The 'Classic' along with many others appear to be available in both new and used versions for many issues of coins. :Chief Coin and Supply, P.O. Box 254, Oshkosh, WI 54903-254. Phone# 920 231-6161. Search them out. I recall purching many of my albumns from them
I think this is backwards.
Edit to add: somebody please let me know if I am wrong
I just went to their site. Awesome selection. THANK YOU!
It's easy to tell the difference the Bookshelf albums have staples and the pages are not removable. The classic albums have screws and the pages are removable.
thisisthe show| Now I am confused as to which albumns I have. I am abroad and unable to verify so I will Now take a safe exit, and just say they are slighly smaller than the later albumns, and the pages cannot be removed or new pages added for newer issues-at least not easily!
Thanks!
I prefer the dansco now. it seems they are sturdier then some of the others. just saying
Johnny9434: I do have a couple of Dansco albumns, and yes, they are a good product and tough.
Thank you for the input.
I had been recommending Randy and Chief Coins & Supply off & on for a while now, due to his inventory of new/used/obsolete folders & albums - - but this was before he had a website. Glad to see he's still out there & thx for posting so I could find out about the website! Time to see if he has anything new/unsual on hand!
Have you ever been asked to leave the library?
Yours is dated 2008 so it is a newer one.
I have a Whitman Classic for statehood quarters.

Yes, very good site, I am looking for a philippine-us type set album, they did not have one, not sure one exists?
I have cent albums and have only opened them once in the last ten years.... I should get back to them, they have a lot of holes to fill yet...and I have hundreds of wheaties in jars....Cheers, RickO
I have an almost complete set of the old Whitman Bookshelf albums, including those made for foreign coins. They also apparently made some for private clients, as I have albums for various series of Presidential medals, Israeli coins, and even the Seattle World's Fair.
I cannot afford to fill any of them, but at least I have the albums to look at.
