1866 $20 Motto NGC AU-58 Will It CAC?

I was wondering if you guys could give me your opinion on this. I have a 1866 $20 Motto Graded by NGC AU-58 and I was wondering if you guys think it will CAC and if so how much might that increase the value of this specific coin? Thanks

Also I forgot to mention that the “White blurr” behind the y in the liberty head band is just light reflection from the plastic case.
Check the word IN on the reverse. The first With Motto reverse hub had the word IN tilted up too much. The corrected hub had the normal alignment of all other Type Two $20's.
A few dies have the word IN doubled because both hubs were used to complete the die. Absolutely nobody cares, other than me, and I only care because I discovered it.

Wow! Thanks for pointing that out.
Why would you want to foul up that pretty slab with a silly little sticker? Leave her be, she's beautiful just the way she is. Congrats!
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
LOL!
It should be able to rate a green bean.
Definitely not
No. You should be very happy that got 58.
It’s impossible to ascertain a grade or CAC potential with the coin being tilted in your pictures.
The coinis lying flat and I tried to get the best pictures I could. It really does look amazing in person. I do agree with you. I’m going to send it in and take a shot on it i have a good feeling
Very difficult to judge your coin from the pictures. I will say it has promise either way!
What makes you so sure?
Just my opinion
Yes, better than 50-50 imo. Luster, lack of abrasions will figure in to that. Not hard to get the sticker if the coin is no problem.
I have yet to send anything to CAC yet and I joined as a submitter when it came out.
Nonetheless this coin is so beautiful it doesn’t matter either way to me.

I agree!
The color variations are due to the reflection of the light on the plastic case. There are no color variations on the coin.
I'm talking about the orange skin on the reverse
But, I'm also a firm believer that you can't definitely grade a coin from photos...despite my claim of "definitely not"
I'm not sure how people can be so certain that it will or won't sticker. That images do not allow me to adequately assess the surfaces. There is enough meat. Unless there are surface issues (hairlines, damage, etc.,) hidden in the images and the luster is sufficient, it has a chance. Submit through a collector and you will get a refund of your submission fee if it fails.
Definitely has a chance but you won't know for sure until you submit...go for it!!!
I’m Going To! Thanks
It is difficult to assess with certainty from those pictures.... However, the general appearance makes me feel it will likely receive the sticker....Be sure to come back and let us know... Cheers, RickO
Thanks Rick I sure will!
Looks nice, send it and let us know.

Your post raises an interesting question. Given that the coin is in a NGC holder does that alone (statistically) make it more or less likely to earn a CAC sticker?
Are there any statistics to identify what percentage of NGC holdered coins come back with CAC stickers compared to PCGS holdered ones?
On the NGC image I'm not seeing any problems. https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/3294595-004/58/
Wow! Thanks for sharing!
I'd send it in, but chances higher value coins like this have already been sent to cac or tried for a crossover at the competitor.
Normally I would agree however based on the collection this came from I’m about 90% sure not been sent to CAC or for Crossover.
I would send it in; if you can't find someone nearby, ask on this site, I'm sure someone will help.
I’m going to keep it for my double eagle collection. I’d like to cross it for my PCGS Registry Set. I feel like if I can achieve a CAC sticker first then I may have a higher likely hood of it crossing. What do you think?
I have found chances are better for gold coins that are not mint state. good luck
I agree! Especially with coins like this whose value starts to rise drastically from this point up.
PCGS can be tough on all the money grades; and there is a built in bias with other service coins, same thing at NGC, last I checked they were running 40% on crossovers. I don't think the cac sticker will have much of an influence with PCGS.
Oops, just checked on crossovers-they're down to 28% pass!
CAC is harder on gold than almost anything. In this case, I think in a 55 holder it would have a chance.
Have you asked Alexa?
OP send it in and let us know what happens!
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
It’s on its way to CAC
Let us know what the outcome is. Which ever way it turns out that is still a very nice coin, sticker or no sticker.
Good luck!! Not to be negative but since you asked I'd guess no...
No worries Thanks for your input
looking forward to the result. if I was forced to bet, I would say no. the color does not look like what cac typically beans for gold but that is only my opinion. good luck !
On the very lowest end of real AU. Nice coin, but no stickers.
I would say no because there looks like more rub across the whole cheek than you’d expect for the grade. Also, some streaks/stains between the date and bust.
Awful light. @FranklinHalfAddict also caught the sheen on the cheek
. Very lightly cleaned

@RogerB 's grade of barely AU makes it unlikely a regrade is worth it
Fingers crossed but gut says no. Color is funky.
NGC pictures look good. I think it’s worth a whirl. Good luck!
The question is does CAC agree that the Grade is Accurate? Based on the condition it’s a 58 all day long everyday. Now it’s easier for me to say that because I’m looking at it in my hand and not a picture but we will see.
