What NGC and PCGS is doing for me is so nice I can’t tell you enough how grateful I am. Both are so kind and have treated me so well words can not express my gratitude. I’m also holding out hope that the work pcgs does with my coins will be good news.
To PCGS & NGC along with all of the good folks in the coin community and the great people right here on this forum I need to say thank you a million times over for the help, prayers and well wishes. The go fund me was a gift that was so appreciated and was not squandered. It helped us more than you’ll ever know.
We are making a comeback but I’m afraid it’s going to take much longer than we all thought. Of course I’m talking about rebuilding again in, Paradise. I was just up there yesterday with my son and took the time to drive around. It’s looks like, Aleppo. That’s not meant to be a joke. It’s horrible and when you look around when you’re there it makes a guy wonder if that town will ever come back. I’m thinking at least a decade before any families would want to move back, I sure hope I’m wrong. That’s a sad note too as it was such a beautiful place to live.

This was a 1942 Jewelers safe and was fire rated to 2000 degrees. But it doesn’t say for how long. The paper did not burn and I was amazed at that. Especially when the mortar between the bricks melted.

What a great article. CHD, the pedigree on the label is just fantastic! That old safe did just enough. I don't think the majority of what is on the market now would have protected the coins as well. Classy move by both big TPGs to offer their services. The goodwill generated will more than make up for the time & materials they've invested.
Your whole experience has caused me to rethink my protection plan & strategy. Immediate evacuation is a tough scenario to plan for.

Great gesture, great job, and great story by NGC. I am looking forward to the PCGS side of the restoration to be completed and reported.
Aside form being a great human interest story of how the coins were recovered, this article demonstrates what the TPGs can do to help a collector recover from a catastrophic event. I am amazed at those before and after pictures. It is a great demonstration of what expert conservation can achieve.
Amazingly it looks as if the CAC sticker was untouched.
