I love nice Spanish colonial Pillars and Portraits, especially the larger 4 R & 8R coins.
Please show one (or more) of which you’re especially proud.

Smaller denomination, but far and away the best preserved Pillar in my world chopmarked set:
Only because you asked nicely!

For those who know the series, that is an amazing coin. I have seen more of the 1733 in better quality (I believe five are listed in the combined population data) but this is the best one I have ever seen from any mint. I would really like to compare it to the other ex-Norweb MS-63, the 1732 without assayer and denomination now in the NGC census.

Thank you and I agree, this is the best of the coins that I have seen and it compares extremely favorably to all the others in the census. There are three 63’s, this coin which is ex Norweb, Swiss Banc Corp/Ortiz, and Ex Patterson. The latter two are 58/61 at best and may have been doctored in my opinion.

Quite a bit scarcer than Mexico (whether in like quality or otherwise) and a better date too.
Great thread idea.
1734/3-Mo MF Mexico 8 Reales. The "chopmark" on this one is very unique.
2 Reales, cut from a 1758-L JM Peru 8 Reales. 2 chopmarks were also applied, and this coin was bought out of India (supposedly found in a river near an old Dutch trading center). Some coins have stories.
1785-MO FM Ex. Hunnington
One of my favorite portraits (the coin, not the king)
1789-MO FM
1808-MO TH
Common coin, fantastically preserved
Awesome coins @OriginalDan

Hmm, i've posted the same stuff over and over in the last few weeks...
How about that first coin that got me hooked on toned 8 Reales over a decade ago?

All great coins !
I like the 1739 4 reales and the chopped marked 1734 /3 8 reales which is a tough date anyway .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
This is my first one and only one. 1808-Mo TH 8R Mexico Ferd VII PCGS AU 58. Bought a few years ago from CRO and never regretted the purchase. I’m attracted to the type and if I get a chance to snag another with a similar grade and look I probably would.
Chop looks like a Lunar Lander to me. Super cool!
