Speaking of $40, palladium is up $40, gold down $10, stocks up 600 pts.

I'm thinking of buying a stock. That will crash the stock market for sure.

I've been waiting for this indicator for years. ;-)

As long we can print/create money with impunity there will no collapse. There is a finite amount of time that can happen.

The system has been around since before Christ and the Great Wall of China, or the Roman Empire. Just because empires collapse doesn't change how the system operates. Look at reality, without prejudice. It is going to continue way past us.

This system is at war with the present, not the past.... or the future.

It's highly unlikely to happen in my lifetime, that's for sure. That is ~30 years if of natural causes. So in that sense it could be considered infinite.

Diamonds can now be synthesized. Gold hasn't been transmuted on anything but a molecular level.

    Dollars................now there's a joke for ya.

You want to be right, no matter what, 100%? Do the opposite of whatever the gold crowd is selling. The great commodity of earth can only be sold at pawn shops and the three coin shops left in your metro population of 2 million. Brilliant strategy, hold gold to preserve your wealth and then go to sell at the only place that buys it in some seedy run down strip mall downtown.

I've sold over $750K in precious metals over the years and have never sold to a dealer, pawn shop or to some seedy run down strip mall store. There are plenty of other buyers willing to pay a fair price.

Sounds like a lot of counter-party risk.

Not if you know when to buy and when to sell.

The counter party risk im suggesting is the person on the otherside of those 750k in sales.

I carry three types of financial insurance: gold, silver and paypal protection.

And, lets not forget the FDIC. LOL

JM, I bet you spent dollars buying gas, groceries, paid utility bills, and a dozen other things last month alone. Dollars are the most useful "worthless" piece of paper ever invented. Dollars lubricate the wheels of commerce with near perfect efficiency.

Far from perfect when purchasing power of the dollar declines over time. Seems to take more "grease" as time goes on. I call it "dollar decay."

I'm trying to remember when I called the dollar "worthless" or "useless". Nope, I don't recall ever saying that. Now, I will definitively state that 98.5% of our politicians are malevolent and that the banking system is corrupt. You can quote me on that.

But, the dollar is just one of the tools used to take money from the producers in order to benefit the non-producers. It's definitely the "go to" medium of exchange in our world, but it's creators and their 1st & 2nd in-line distributors are the main beneficiaries of the biggest scam ever conceived, while siphoning off the productive energy of everyone else, and that's saying something.

Sure does. But probably not what you intended.

"Malevolent, corrupt, scam"......I'll echo Baley. I too feel sorry for your experiences.

But on a brighter note....worthless dollars buy just as much silver as they did 38 years ago!! That's great news for stackers. Rejoice!!!

He didn't say or imply he was not optimistic and might well be very optimistic regarding many things.

He said that "98.5% of our politicians are malevolent and that the banking system is corrupt....the dollar is a tool used to take money from the producers in order to benefit the non-producers....definitely the "go to" medium of exchange in our world, but it's creators and their 1st & 2nd in-line distributors are the main beneficiaries of the biggest scam ever conceived, while siphoning off the productive energy of everyone else...."

We continually devalue our dollar, keep 200 million Americans in the "poor house" and keep 2 billion virtual slaves in Asia so that every day tens of billions of USD can be skimmed off our "system" for those non-producers to lop up and smile about. It's not hard to call a spade a spade.

I was merely commenting on the humor i found in the hypocrisy of the link you posted.

Your comment really makes no sense though. Presumption of assumption.

Hmmmm, my experiences are based on - well, pretty much reading history and relating history to what's going on now. As for misfortune, let's hope that nobody you know and love contracts a serious condition and is then toyed with by big pharma, the healthcare system and the insurance racket the way I've seen it happen.

As for optimism, what we have going is the antithesis of capitalism with the middle class being systematically destroyed between the socialists, welfare state, islamists and the Chamber of Commerce. The only reason to be optimistic is that not everyone is still walking around in ignorance about this.

"Malevolent, corrupt, scam"......I'll echo Baley. I too feel sorry for your experiences.

The banking system is complicit. It's just that simple. Bill Black has a lot to say about the non-prosecution of the tbtf bankers. Hopefully, that can still change.

Without regard to who's manipulating whom, it stands to obvious reason that precipitously and massively escalating our debt to over $21 trillion in such a short period of time, provoking foreign disinterest in preserving the dollar as the international currency, and amassing trillion-dollar deficits during times of unprecedented prosperity in this country (when we ought to be paying DOWN our debt), is criminally irresponsible and unsustainable.

No one here appears to disagree with that. All that we seem to disagree about is when and how the inevitable comeuppance will occur.

It’s too bad that our standard of living decays alongside the dollar. Over 90% in the last hundred years, right?

The system wont collapse under its own weight. However, it can due to societal breakdown. Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Weimar...all collapsed due to political upheaval and most importantly, lack of resources. The USA certainly does not have a resource problem, but it certainly can have a societal problem. We have unique demographics that most other countries do not and offer boundless liberties to everyone.

Just as a child without structure, rules and boundaries can find himself in trouble, so can a society. We have broken down many of structures that kept us together such as family. We have blurred the rules of right and wrong and expanded the boundaries of morality.

A soup consisting of many different and measured ingredients can be quite nutritious. However, one that is made of all ingredients without regard to measurement can be nausiating and surfeiting.

Do we overspend? You betcha. How to fix? Impose boundaries. Watch the nightly news to see how a society responds to walls. There is your collapse.
