Kennedy Halves?

As an old poot, I really enjoy the PCGS Silver Kennedy PRF69 halves and they don't cost a fortune. Can't afford the PRF70's. LOL. Hope to get one of the reverse proofs soon. Seems from what I have read, there is not really any middle ground on these as far as popularity. Either love em or hate em. Interjection of politics seems to have an impact on the coin type and it does seem to creep in on how some feels about the Kennedy. I just plain old like the looks of the coin and the heck with politics. I may be stirring up a hornets nest, but what say you? Merry Christmas all and have a great New Year. Mike

Actually- as far as collecting halves- the Kennedy basic proof set is the most collect registery set of ANY half dollar series with 488 sets! So it sounds like many folks have put political opinions aside to me.

Uh-oh. That photo looks like you might have bought one of the dreaded "light" varieties that PCGS refuses to recognize. ;)

Good news is, you got it cheaply. MCM is selling NGC PF69 Lights for $199. Now you'll have to get the "normal" variety too! They are beautiful!

One of the guys at my local club is constantly consigning certified modern silver Proofs to the club auction every month. They are all PR-69 DCam pieces. I have to admit that I find them to be very attractive. Proofs like that were really hard to find in the 1950s and ‘60s. Now the modern examples are norm.

Yes, I can see where you would find a collection of these coins interesting.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Kennedy halves are an excellent collecting area....I have an album as well as many of the proof sets.... I stopped the proof sets around 2010...but did get all the 'special' offerings through the last 8 years. I still watch for the accented hair variety, and have several sets that include that coin.. Cheers, RickO

Bought a set back around 86 or 87. I update it every five years.

That was my thought but the angle of the pic kept me from commenting....a straight on pic would help but I would say 80% chance of my most recent favorite coin from 2018...light finish 2018 S Kennedy

Straight on with a tad better light
