Same Zero feedback bidder who won this the 1st time is bidding on it again, huh? Hmmm....

HallcoHallco Posts: 3,676 ✭✭✭✭✭

Same coin!

1st auction that ended yesterday:

https://ebay.com/bfl/viewbids/332949447753?item=332949447753&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2565

New one that started today:

https://ebay.com/bfl/viewbids/332969768794?item=332969768794&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2565

I wonder if he thought he didn't pay enough? :rage: I know...I said I was over it and I would move on. Guess I wasn't.....until just now! ;)

Looks like he must want more than one. Price is high for it, If the money is there, sell away.

I think you are misunderstanding, I bid on the auction that ended yesterday. He exposed my bid after 30+ bids and eventually was the high bidder at the end. The seller is now listing the exact same coin(not a different example of the same date)...the same one, and the same -0- bidder who "won" yesterdays is high bidder again. It seems clear to me that this is not legitimate, but I don't do a lot with Ebay. If I am wrong, PLEASE explain what I am missing.

Yes, it sounds like shill bidding.

However, this is the type of coin that some people are very willing to own multiples of. The GSA CC Dollars 1882, 1883, 1884 just kinda 'come in over the transom' and can pile up.

Same coin photo. Maybe another coin using stock photo, or a shill bidder for a seller who thinks the closing price was too low. Nothing new. That's eBay.

    What the heck. Reported.

Clearly fraudulent. The person could easily have diluted their bid history by throwing a ton of lowball bids in other other sellers' auctions but was not even smart enough to fo that.

I just had it out with ebay reps this past week. They need to do a better job hiring people on their fraud team. Some offenses and scams are obvious. They're destroying their own platform and business model. Lately, in my experience ( and I've only been there 18 years) it isn't working too well or going so good. Thanks to those scammers. And an auction ain't what it used to be. Thankfully it's not against their policy to block bidders.

Definitely a shill. Seems unnecessary when they can just start it at minimum price they are willing to sell.

Soooo...if someone intentionally "wins" their own coin don't they still pay listing and FVF's?

What the shill is going on here! I mean...the shill is going on here.Sadly,it's a common event.

What if the shill returns the coin as SNAD. Does he get his money back? I think so which makes it a wash.

I reported the original one several days before it ended but Ebay didn't do anything about it. Thanks for the replies, wise words and encouragement everyone.

I would not buy from anybody with only 12 feedback.

That was my question too. From the replies it is yes. Seems a stupid move. But crooks are not always the sharpest knife in the drawer.
