Why would you think this is treasure? Looks like something you would find in your pocket change.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

If treasure = pocket change, then yes

A copper cent with a fingerprint. Now, if that fingerprint belongs to someone famous or infamous, you may INDEED have treasure.

The “sum” of two parts is usually larger than each part measured separately.

You have a nice coin from 36 years ago, but no material value above one cent, sorry.

Why would you think this is treasure?

I'd like to know the answer to Perry's question. If the OP hasn't done enough basic research to know the answer on this particular coin, it makes one wonder what the purpose was in posing the question in the way it was posed.

What makes you think it has a value higher than one cent?

@Isabel341983.... Welcome aboard... Your cent appears to be a common '82 cent... nothing special. Perhaps it would help us if you elaborated on why you think it may be valuable. Cheers, RickO

The coin would be a treasure on another planet with evolved life on it just as a coin from another planet would be a treasure here. So clearly the answer depends on where you are located.

I doubt it, with only 2 posts to their credit.

FYI....Your penny is worth approx 1.8 cents in melt value, but only if it's a copper penny.

Not sure if they are actually prosecuting or what the penalty is, but it is currently illegal to melt copper cents and pennies. So, the "value" is there for posterity but not much else. ;)

I don't know of any accessible IP address log, but I'm going to take your word for it. While many of these bowtie fantastic folks are undoubtedly trolls, I'd rather err on the side of endless patience and politeness even if they are getting their little troll jollies at our collective expense. Most trolls have little life to enjoy whilst sitting in their mom's basement :D
