Stars?

Simple question. What do the stars after your user name mean?

What we've got here is failure to communicate.....

Four stars is better than three and five stars is better than four. Other than that, don't know.

Something to do with you points, I think.

  • JBKJBK Posts: 14,643 ✭✭✭✭✭

It is based on how smart and good looking you are. ;)

Various events (membership anniversaries, # of likes/agrees/LOLs, etc.) earn you badges, which get you points. At various point levels you get additional stars. Simple post count might contribute to that somewhat, but it is less clear.

Hmm... So that’s what the points do. Interesting.

If we cannot redeem the points then I think that for each star one has then how about a 10% discount on membership. One star = 10% up to five stars = 50%, or maybe just 1 - 5%.

Anything to save money and possibly generate membership (revenue) for the host.

    Easy?

    Hard?

I do not know. Ideas are free. 💡

I don't think length of experience is relevant.

There are some who place a value on their "star" status, but as @cameonut2011 stated, it is just a software feature without true meaning.

I have never understood the system and have not seen an official (from the host) explanation of how the software works. I just participate.... Cheers, RickO

When I hit myself in the head with a mallet, I see stars. Does that count? Peace Roy

    Coin related and better fluff.

If you have cats make sure you get the fluffy fur off the coin before you put it in the flip. It’s a bear trying to get it out with that static attraction.

Ha! I've been on this forum for a long time -- don't recall when joined. Never knew about stars or badges -- until this post. So I click on my profile and there's a carp load of badges I didn't know I had. Here is the most humorous badge:

    Ancient Membership

Nobody remembers a time when this person wasn’t a member here.

So I guess I'm really Ancient :# A true old fart...

You mean we receive participation credit like the stickers they hand out to kids in kindergarten? I guess PCGS thinks we're all kids at heart.

    It's a popularity contest. I lose.

Please like my post about 50 times so I can get to five - then I'll be done.

No. I maxed out, and I am not popular at all.
