1969 counterfeit quarter?

Has anybody seen one of these? Clearly appears to be copper with bright chrome plating. 5.7 grams, weakly reeded edge.

    Possibly a science experiment.

Heat quarter then quick cool. Then a chrome plating.

Yes, I think it is a damaged coin.

One of my dealers had a bunch of 1965 fake quarters. Haven't personally seen a 1969 but in the case of yours just looks like a legit quarter someone was trying to alter.

Back in the 70’s I saw a number of counterfeit 1965-later quarters that came out of Vietnam. Never did find out if it was G.I.’s making them to spend in the local economy or locals making them to spend in the PX. Some came home with soldiers.

I have an aluminum quarter in my stash from Nam. Some lifer nco's had a few slot machines in an EM club for a while until someone with a functioning brain realized it was illegal. Ran em over with an APC or a Duster and kept one fake as a souvenier. Peace Roy

I have seen quarters like that before that were found while metal detecting on a beach.
