@coinhack you are so right, there are so many going through what Joe and his family are suffering that it is unbelievable that this happens every year or at least the potential occurs. I know that Joe is so overwhelmed by all the forums outpour of best wishes and blessings. I know that I am.

Just communicated with Joe and he said it is now official, everything on his property and his children's property has been destroyed. He's 2 hours away and the smoke is so bad you can't breathe it outside for very long at all. He thanks all of you for your generosity. So many were killed while in their car trying to escape, 5 or 6 I think. My Lord how the lucky ones that survived can endure that type of total loss of personal property. We are so lucky this Thanksgiving and I wish that the Californians suffering this could share, but even surviving I doubt they will. So, so sad.

I have no word to express my feelings. We have never taken any handout ever in my or my family’s life. We are a hard working family and I have lived my life this way. I am now 67 my working day are over and I’m a tired old horse.
We have lost everything in this world so I’m sure not in any position to refuse this generosity. At the same time I honestly do not know how to say thank you to all properly. So here it goes. I’ve been a member of this forum for 10 years now. I have made many good, good friends in those 10 years. Many I’ve met up with at coins shows and even had dinner with. Everyone here has always treated me with kindness but nothing like this. What we have here is a true coin community, the best coin community in my mind. The prayers, the well wishes, and the honest caring that has been shown to me and my family at this time is something I never saw coming. Now this generosity here is just the nicest thing in the world to myself and my family during this struggling time.
With my heart in my hand I thank you all. My family thanks you all. May God bless each and every one of you. These funds will not be squandered. Every cent will be put towards rebuilding our life.

Wow, this is so sad for many involved. In Florida we have dealt with many hurricanes, but these wild fires are so scary. Glad CH has the family safe, but I know this is life altering. Hang in there, all the best to everyone who lost so much.
I know a former co-worker whose house was totally destroyed by Hurricane Katrina right down to the slab, while the church where his wife was the pastor was also totally destroyed. It was rough, but they recovered even though they lost all their material possessions. They were alive.
