Grade this PL Morgan? 1883 O

Paid $35 for this beautiful PL Morgan! I think it is maybe a 62 or 63? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I think you are in the ballpark. I would guess a shot a 63 is not out of the question. How deep are those mirrors?

    63 to me also.
It's hard to grade PL coins from one image though.
The spots are the problem with this piece.

Agree with the spotting but for $35 I thought what the heck. Any chance a nice soak in acetone will help at all? Hard to tell what it is

I would wager 63, not sure about the depth of the fields though. For 35 units of debt you'll be ok.

63... an acetone rinse will not hurt and may remove that spot on the obverse and any random organic residues. Cheers, RickO

MS-63 ... It has some P-L characterists, but I don't think the mirrors are deep enough to get that designation. It might rate an MS-63+ given the semi-mirrors.

I’m not sure what it will grade due to the serious(to me anyway) cuts on each of the eagles legs.

Good news, a good friend of mine showed me a trick and got that hideous blob off of the E! Going to send it in to PCGS after a nice acetone bath. Definitely a nice MS PL example.

It's a nice looking coin for the money you paid for it, I think that it possibly might have a chance at a 64 as it has a pretty clean cheek and nice hair details. Doesn't look like there are any real bad hits in the fields, yeah, I'm going with a 64 on this one. Hell, I've seen worse graded 65's than this coin looks

Send it in. Break even at best at economy but a great learning tool.

good luck, 63 is my wag

63, not PL is my guess. Not worth sending in my opinion.
