FRIDAY = METAL PORN. WHAT TURNED YOU ON THIS WEEK?

WeissWeiss Posts: 9,934 ✭✭✭✭✭

Two very minor pieces: 1870 Spanish 5 pesatas and a vintage HCJ Refiners bar.

What did you get? What did you sell? What did you see that made you wolf whistle?

I picked up this 10 Oz silver bar this week. QUATRE looks rolled and sheared. Maybe ground or trimmed to tune final weight. We couldn’t find anything online about it. Zilch. Paid 2.50 over just for something different factor. Anyone’s see this or one like it before?

Not the same type but must be same company, I'll keep searching
    Could your bar be extruded?

I suppose, not sure if a sheet of metal is technically exstruded or not. I think of sheet metal as rolled and extruded as more like a play dough factory. Lol. But I guess a roller would have sides to it keeping it a certain width while being rolled.

I buy steel at the yard for my metal projects and there are big shears and presses that break the metal to size. Sometimes a PM bar comes along that has the same look, I assume its the same technique and tools. Would make since to me and the process would be efficient and costs effective

Very cool bar! Not sure about the maker, but I have a scarce Foster 1oz bar made similarly:
It appears to be cut from sheet silver...

Not new, but very happy still with this semi-recent purchase:

500g or half kilo. Engelhard used all 3 weight classes when they were producing these bars

Nice Perth mint silver! I have a roll of Kookaburras. Can’t remember if they’re 2015 or 2016.

The Falcon. Not as fond of it as the others, but it is nice. Got it for my daughter, she wants them all.

There might even be a fraction of a gram of Palladium in that package. :D

Right, didn't mention the minor amounts of precious metals or the more significant portions of plastics and other materials.

Nothing spectacular, just a 2014 as a daily driver and possibly for the son to learn on in a few years..
