My youngest son pinned on Eagle last night at Hickam Airfield, HI. His older brother (Eagle, 2015) got to introduce him which was quite apropos. In his speech, youngest son said he was inspired by his older brother. He noticed his brother's "pride and happiness on his face" when he Eagled and wanted that for himself someday. Last night he achieved his goal. Now I get to wear two 'Dad' pins on my work tie. :-)

A huge congrats to both your sons on becoming an eagle scout!!!! It is a huge accomplishment and one that will help in everyday life. I am also an eagle scout and can say it was one of the best things I ever did!!!!! A HUGE CONGRATS TO THEM BOTH AND TO YOU AS WELL!!!!

Long time since I was a scout, but Eagle was a tough achievement. I would guess it still is. Congrats. Wear the pins proudly. Sorry no pic now and the sdb is closed until Tues.

I became an Eagle scout at Kadena Air Base Okinawa, my father was an Eagle scout, and my only son is an Eagle scout.
Today of all days, our only daughter just had her first baby at 10AM, and I sure hope my new grandson will make the effort, if scouting continues to evolve, and it still exists in 13-15 years.

The work of Civil War Token artist, John Marr.
The reverse showed less imagination.
I believe that these were John Marr's "stock dies" for 1864. A stock die was used for the reverse of a merchant's or store card die when the customer only wanted to pay for one custom obverse. Some merchants had dies made from both side of their tokens.
Congress passed laws that outlawed the use of Civil War tokens, and far fewer 1864 Marr produced tokens were issued.
