Interesting error in this week's Coin World Collectors Clearinghouse--a Clad Nickel

There is an interesting error mentioned in Coin World's Collectors CLearinghouse this week. A 1989-P nickel struck on a nickel-diameter planchet punched out of clad quarter strip. Shows the copper core on the edge. Weight a bit light, around 4.3 grams.
.
Funny thing is, the same thing happened on 1987-P nickels, of which about a dozen are known. I wonder if the blanking error happened in 1987 and an error planchet hung around the Mint for two years. Not impossible. Something to watch for.

@CaptHenway ....Thanks for the heads-up..... Never thought to check for that... and I get lots of nickels in change (Yes, I still use cash a lot.). Something else to peruse my change for....Now I regret leaving that nickel in the penny box by the cash register. ;) Cheers, RickO

Since I place my nickels in clear roll storage tubes, until I get a roll of 40, I think I would have spotted it if I had gotten one. It’s sounds like it’s and interesting error.
