Wow, 99 cent eBay Auction start price work at attracting bids.

Bids attract bids and that is why I do 99 cent eBay auctions every week.
I put up some good stuff this week using the ANA 5 for free coupon and started the big ones at 99 cents.
One of my auction has 40 bids with 2 and a half days left. That's strong bidding.
Just wanted to let you know that some people still do 99 cent TRUE eBay auctions and that they do work great for the seller and the buyer gets to pick their price.

I stopped having 99 cent auctions but in lieu, I start mine at $9.99 with the same results. I eliminates the bottom feeders.
I start my material at .99C also.
I don't mind the 'bottom feeders',
as they add to the # of 'bids' or 'watching'
(if they don't actually bid which makes the listings Hotter, imo.
Fred might consider me a bottom feeder

I sold off a bunch of stuff recently with $.99 starts. Some went for less than I wanted, but almost all of them had lots of looks, watches and bids, such that I came away feeling that by and large, they sold at today's market price. There were no rips.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Exactly, you get market or higher, rarely lower.
Sometimes you lose money on them, but most of the time you don't. I guess it all depends on your buy price tho.
Good Strategy. I Almost always just filter coin results by bidders from 2-50. No bids, and I already know it is a fixed price and since it is on Ebay, I already know that the price is too high.
Yup, that's the way to do it.
Bidders are more apt to get the "it's mine and you can't outbid me" attitude, if they start low and follow it up.
It's also the reason I snipe as a buyer.
I sell my variety cherrypicks that way, and with few exceptions I haven't been disappointed.
I've done the 99 cent start before, and usually they bring the right price. I did however have one get a single bid.

Problem with the 99 cent starts is you may or may not end on an Ebay Buck promo day.
That alone provides a strong advantage to fixed price listings.
If your turbosnail, you can certainly plan your ending day around promos
Don't matter to me. Some of the best food is at the bottom.

I do not see a lot of .99 cent auctions anymore.... A few, but not like years ago. I agree with the above inputs, they have their place, and usually result in a good finish price. Cheers, RickO
I sold two lowball CC Morgans in the past week and both were .99 to start. Oh, if I waited a month or two I probably could have done better with a BIN. Time is money. Off they went and I moved on. Got retail. Lots of lookers.

In my experiences 99 cent auctions seem to work best on interesting or unique items, not so much on stuff where Ebay is overflowing with it.
I liked it better when eBay allowed you to sort your searches by number of bids.
im liable to bid with more of a 99 cent bid then a higher fixed bid as well. its more attractive to that way. just saying
