    Thanks for posting this! It was most informative. It is interesting to note that there is an alternative to the Overton book.

    I am one of those "shallow type collectors." I do have a set of early half dimes by Red Book variety, minus the 1802. As for the rest, I've been down the die variety collecting road once and really don't want to go back there. It's just too frustrating. You can only get so far, then that's it, unless you are young, wealthy and willing to perhaps wait a long time.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
