It might be lawsuit worthy for infringement. The font is off on the lettering.
Wondering if this was an anniversary holder similar to the doily and OGH types. (Gen 1.0 on the reverse). Still looks odd.

Yes they are doing some Doilies to. And I think the green lables also.
Might only be available to PCGS dealers I want all mine in the Secure Shield though.
They are offering 4 different generations of the retro holders.
They should maybe rethink this idea of all the different holders being offered.
It's going to be too confusing for the average collector to spot the counterfeit holders when there are so many versions of the holders floating around.

I am getting confused by "HOLDER MANIA".
Holder 1.whatever, 2.whatever, 3.whatever, and on and on.
Let's not forget all the retro carp. Doily-new and on and ont. Shields, sniffers, whatever.
Not to mention First Strike and all the other special labels that I mostly despise.
I cannot keep them straight so this plays into all the scammers and counterfeiters. PCGS reaps what they deserve.

I wish they would keep it simple. Some smart person said that years ago.

But getting back to the OP's coin it's a new grade when the real gen 1 was around it would graded 65 at the most on a good day. Had to completly have clear fields for a 66 back then.
In other words to me it is not a premium coin.
That's not quite the point. If the holder is an imitation PCGS holder, you have a problem. The coin inside could be a darn deceptive counterfeit, or we could have another guy who is putting real coins in fake holders. That happened a couple of decades ago.
If PCGS really is doing a bunch of retro-holders, they really need to step back and think. They should take a lesson from the Confederate States of America Government in 1861. That year they had multiple companies making their currency. The experienced bankers warned them that multiple bill types would confuse people and make the counterfeiters’ job easier. That is exactly what happened.
Edited to add: The OP did not show the reverse of the holder when he first posted this thread.
Good points, Bill. On the obverse alone (had some trouble loading the reverse) I would have had serious doubts that this was a legitimate holder.
This is a current generation holder with a "retro" label. From the image it looks legit (the font is part of the retro label).

I love the retro holders. They offer 4 of them. They are just a small additional price, and make the coins stand out from billions of other boring morgans. Why wouldn't you want them? lol
I hate the retro holders. Gimmicks and especially those fake OGH's.

As a few others have mentioned, it's one of the Generation Labels that PCGS started offering awhile back.
Because we are in an era of fake Chinese holders. I look at a lot of coins each week and was not sure of the authenticity of this version. The casual collector has no chance.
The font looks cheesey
As counterfeit coins get better all of these crazy holders are going to cause problems. With so many types I no longer have any idea what a real pcgs holder is

If the holder is a counterfeit I have to crack out the coin before reselling it. My method is primitive as I snap the holder in two using two pair of linesmen pliers. Hate stepping on the plastic slivers for the next month and a half.
I want a scratch-n-sniff holder. Strawberry.
