Naw, there is a 99 o silver dollar floating around one of these post's that gets my vote
Steve
On eBay that would be titled as "Monster Rainbow Color Toned Eye Candy".
I have seen Morgan Dollars that looked like someone threw up on them after eating chili and didn't bother to rinse it off. This quarter isn't even close.
If you want ugly toning, look at Unc. Barber Halves.
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
With a price of 3x guide too...
Ugly tarnish.... well, I do not like tarnish to begin with, but that looks like it was at the bottom of a bucket of puke..... Cheers, RickO
That’s nothing compare to some old mint sets I own. The toning is terminal with some of the sets I own.
If I can dig them out I’ll post em.
I'm in.
Successful BST transactions with lordmarcovan, Moldnut, erwindoc
I'll try to dig up photos of a Peace dollar I used to own. It was in a 65 CAC holder but was HIDEOUS. The great buy evaporated quickly when it was time to sell it.
Yikes, thanks for sharing !!!
Hey, quit bashing my merchandise!!!!
That is really ugly....but I have seen 1949 coins that are worse.
They can be downright hideous....original but hideous.
... gonna try and burn this whole joint down to the neck and then look again...hang tight
...k...it’s really not that bad...it has the look of death that’s for sure but I bet if you blast that baby with a high-lumen flashlight it would smile back at you with some colors...the only gold CAC sticker I ever got had a similar look to it
Many years ago (1986/7) I bought a 1947-D MS64 Walker in a TT auction described as "deeply toned, slightly below average strike and luster" or something close to those words.
Not to bash TT because I bought many very nice coins from them over the years, but this coin was horrible.
It was deep silvery grey-black (mostly black) with elusive hints of luster if you tilted the coin in a certain way under intense light.
Ugliest coin I have ever seen in a holder.
It was a rattler.
Probably still rattling somewhere.
I can't recall selling it but I must have.....I have no idea how I managed to unload it....
After that debacle I learned quickly how to interpret TT's PC way of calling a dog a dog without actually calling it a dog.
I just won this PCGS AU-58 at an auction:
Its now my ugliest coin, but its a variety that I was looking for.
"High graded".. Not to derail or disparage, but that appears to be NNC holder foam? Don't trust them.

I just don't understand the appeal of any toning. Anyway, coins don't come out of the dies toned so how do they ever get a MS designation. Toning is not mint state.
The obverse:
But the reverse is not as bad:
If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.
Tommy
Is a coin that had toning removed mint state?

That's why I don't like Yosemite. The earth was molten lava in mint state!
Insert witicism here. [ xxx ]
Hopefully you guys have better taste in women?
As these coins are like a bottle or more of tequila away from being eye appealing!
Ain't that the truth. The uglier the coin, the higher the MS grade PCGS gives it.
none of my coins are ugly , but
an example of tpgs having no tastes?
I have lots of one-sided uglys . . .
But it's a Batdorf!
