I like 1921 for all the new coins from 1916 plus Morgans (although the uglier version) and the HR Peace Dollar. That beats the Barber coinage IMO.
Interesting question!
This was a great year as well.

18th Century: Tough call but I'm going to go with 1796. I'm partial to the quarter and the no stars quarter eagle.
19th Century: 1839
20th Century: 1916
21st Century: I guess it will take 82 more years to figure that one out.
I still think people are putting too much weight on when the coins debuted. All those 1916 coins are still around in 1921! It’s really a question of one Barber design on 2 denominations vs. the Morgan and High Relief Peace Dollar.
1916:
Proof Lincoln and Buffalo
DDO Buffalo
DIme transition
1916-D Mercury Dime
Quarter transition
1916 SLQ
Half Dollar Transition
1916 Obverse mintmark Walkers
Ok, no dollars. But 1916 has $5, $10, $20 gold from SF only.
Oh, and all of those "new" designs are among the best ever.
I also vote for 1916.... some beautiful designs that are still considered some of the finest coin art the U.S. has produced. It is a pleasure just to hold and look at a WLH or a Merc...Cheers, RickO
If the Mint paid a proportional sum to today's finest sculptors, we might, again, have high quality, artistic designs. The present stuff is largely commercial sketch work.

2017 Enhanced Uncirculated Set - Best ever.
Don't quote me on that.
I'd vote 1839. A transitioning year with a lot of different demons and series
1792 followed by 1794
I’ll go with 1796. Terrific copper, silver, and gold types and some classic rarities tossed in to boot.
For sure 1916.

I like 1916 because it was the debut of the Walker, Standing liberty quarter and Mercury dime.

I like years with a lot of different coins, denominations, mints. Think 1873, 1889, 1909.
2018....McDonalds set by far. I picked up one of the coins stamped CAL.
The best decade was the 1920's.

Well it certainly was before 1999. More likely before 1964.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Anything between 1870 and 1893. Westward expansion and the Carson City Mint.
I’ll have to agree with 1916. Some of the most beautiful coins ever made.

1916 hard to beat.
1916 those 3 winning original graphics.....wished they are on bigger coin
What no one is going to pick 1976?
The correct answer is 1883.

Must be expecting an amazing Innovation Dollar!

Best is awfully subjective, but I can guess @RogerB 's answer: 1916!

1916 is obviously the winning year! How come nobody voted for 1979? Everybody loves a dollar coin!
Actually the "best" year was a century earlier. 1816. Everyone should have a complete year/denomination/mint set. ;
1893, half and dollar
1793
BHNC #203
Okay...1816 is definitely a good year too!!!!
Thought about this and I'd have to go with 1916 as well, however 1936 would be second with the reintroduction of proof coinage
