Is this a fake?

Just put a bid in for this on eBay and before I fully pay I just wanted some help from the experts regarding if this looks like a genuine 1914 dime.

Yes I’m not very good with the whole eBay buying, so much you can’t see with the pictures.

Looks like it's been cleaned with baking soda paste.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Genuine and Juuuust a little polished up, probably with the old Arm & Hammer.

A company I worked for many years ago made the stuff for Church and Dwight.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Brighto

Ah yes, in the 'good days I knew a few dealers who bought that stuff by the bucket.

With all due respect you should not be in the habit of bidding on coins you are not sure you will pay for. As eBay rules state, "your bid is a contract". Ask questions first, bid later.

A string of unpaid auctions will get a bidder banned from eBay.

Your instincts were correct that there might be issues of some kind with this coin, so that is a good thing.

That Brighto stuff was medicine. The Stooges rubbed it on a car and it took the paint off.
