Following an introduction to Fat Bear Week, the Nightly News TV anchors on last night's broadcast expanded their coverage of my just captured “on film” Bull Moose Fight that took place in front of my house.
Link to "The Interview" Regarding my filming of combating Bull Moose:
This was the second recent threatening wild animal encounter at my residence. Fittingly this is "Fat Bear Week" and the first close wild animal encounter was a bear that caught me by surprise as I was watering the lawn.
This past weekend's encounter was two Fighting Bull Moose who advanced toward me as seen in the above linked video. Here pictured are related still shots from this week's TV interview:
This was my 2019 Halloween costume. I have enjoyed dressing up for Halloween since I can remember. I am in my 50's now, and will continue doing so until I can't anymore!
Out of curiosity I tried to find out what the one tall structure in the 1856 photo might have been and whether it still stands. This is what I located on the Trinity Church's website:
The third Trinity Church was consecrated on Ascension Day 1846 and is considered one of the first and finest examples of Neo-Gothic architecture in the country. With its 281-foot-high steeple, Trinity Church was the tallest building in the United States for 23 years and remained the tallest building in New York City until 1890.
I saw this critter wriggling on the cobblestones and initially assumed it was another earthworm. Worms (nightcrawlers) often come up from between the stones in this spot.
But no, this time it was actually a SNAKE- one of the tiniest ones I've ever seen.
I was headed back to the office this afternoon when I heard the sound of a thundering fighter jet overhead. Before I had time to try to capture its appearance on "film" it was too late. Instead, I paused to take in the overall scene noting how vibrant the Fall colors were at that location.
From past experience I knew that if a fighter jet was on a mission it would rarely depart alone. Lately there have been multiple intrusions close to, if not into, our country's airspace by Russian aircraft which prompts the scrambling of our own fighters. With that in mind I waited. Sure enough another fighter jet took off and this time I was not only able to capture its departure in video and sound, but also to include the just discovered colors of fall.
OK, that's a long preface to a short video but I guess it struck a cord. In the few hours it has been up on YouTube there have already been several hundred views. Enjoy:
