    Impressive contrasting.

Out of curiosity I tried to find out what the one tall structure in the 1856 photo might have been and whether it still stands. This is what I located on the Trinity Church's website:

The third Trinity Church was consecrated on Ascension Day 1846 and is considered one of the first and finest examples of Neo-Gothic architecture in the country. With its 281-foot-high steeple, Trinity Church was the tallest building in the United States for 23 years and remained the tallest building in New York City until 1890.

A local guy reported that he saw a Sasquatch in the wildlife refuge near Lawton/Fort Sill, Oklahoma (where I live).

Some times it just pays to be observant.

I was headed back to the office this afternoon when I heard the sound of a thundering fighter jet overhead. Before I had time to try to capture its appearance on "film" it was too late. Instead, I paused to take in the overall scene noting how vibrant the Fall colors were at that location.

From past experience I knew that if a fighter jet was on a mission it would rarely depart alone. Lately there have been multiple intrusions close to, if not into, our country's airspace by Russian aircraft which prompts the scrambling of our own fighters. With that in mind I waited. Sure enough another fighter jet took off and this time I was not only able to capture its departure in video and sound, but also to include the just discovered colors of fall.

OK, that's a long preface to a short video but I guess it struck a cord. In the few hours it has been up on YouTube there have already been several hundred views. Enjoy:

And for those who like my train videos, this was the scene that greeted me this morning as I pulled into my office parking space. It also highlights the "vibrant colors of fall" here in the Northland:

And for those who are more into just the "vibrant colors of fall" here is a link to the scenery along the adjacent roadway to my office:

Now for those who are not into the video scene, here are my related still shots that capture the "vibrant colors of fall" at and near my office as taken at the end of this work week:
