On the occasion of the Northwestern vs. USC Rose Bowl game,Charlton Heston, a Northwestern Alum, returned to that shooting location at Universal Studios where he had played the role of Moses in Cecil B. DeMille's "Ten Commandments" There he entertained the Northwestern football players on their pregame tour of the studios and the waters were dyed purple in honor of the Purple Wildcats. On the following day when I and my sons visited, the waters were still purple.
I am curious if that photo may have even been taken on that occasion given that Charlton Heston is wearing a purple shirt.?
Here is my photo taken at the same location where Charlton Heston had parted the Red Sea on Universal Studios' lot for the Rose Bowl bound Northwestern football players the prior day.
Seeing the fog covering the nearby neighborhood lake also brought to mind that occasion when the same lake was the movie setting for the opening scene of the Hollywood Film, "Big Miracle" as fog machines were used to artificially create fog to hide the lake's surroundings for the whale hunting scene being filmed:
Today's misty fog over the neighborhood lake reminded of the morning mist that arose from last year's visit to Lake Kawaguchi at the base of Mount Fuji along with the mist-inspired haiku poem I penned that early morning:
MORNING MIST OVER JAPAN'S LAKE KAWAGUCHI
The morning mist lifts
Mirrored reflections emerge
My soul too awakens
Trying out a New Recipe - Kodiak Cakes Egg Waffles topped with caramelized JUICI Apples. JUICI Apples are a new variety with Honeycrisp and Braeburn parentage giving them a balance of sweet and tart flavors with amazing crunch. It is a thinner skinned crisp apple which has a unique pinkish red color. (Eggs were added to the Kodiak Cakes Buttermilk Waffle Mix.)
Today's Snow Encounters as close to another 9 inches fell bringing this November's total to 38.1 inches and threatening the all time November snowfall record of 38.8 inches set in November of 1994:
We had one, Gages. Everything from candy bars to shoe laces and out of
date spices. Mary and Jim, mother and son, made the best bologna
sandwiches. Snickers bar and a bottle of pop, 10 cents. I miss those days.
