Nice 1937 S buffalo in rattler, Thoughts on grade?

Picked this up for $40, couldn't pass it up in the rattler. Looks very nice to me, my first graded buff as well. How's the grade on this coin?

OGH nothing - that's a rattler!
Looks very nice - not sure if it would upgrade with the spots on the reverse or not,
but overall looks to be a pretty solid coin in a very old holder that you got for a fair price.
Ah thought those might be carbon spots..
I love Buffalo's in the old rattlers. It's just too hard to say no, and at the price you paid, it would be a no brainer YES!!
It has a great strike, but the luster looks a bit subdued (not sure if it's just the images) and the few spots on the reverse might keep it from going 66. If the luster is there, then I could see it going 66 as it appears to be mark free enough.
Looks pretty good from here. Looks to have great luster and I’d say above average strike for the date.
Yep! I like it.
Excellent pick up at $40. That coin is hammered. Looks solid for the grade and I could maybe see a 66 but no way to tell for sure from the pictures.
Great strike and luster. Solid for the grade and what a great buy! Congrats and thanks for sharing.

OGH: Old Green Holder
Rattler: First generation of PCGS holder. Coins tend to rattle in the oversized coin compartment.
There are very complete threads here on the generation breakdown of PCGS holder types - and there are many. Common wisdom has been that OGH and Rattler holders have coins in them - especially the Rattlers - which were under-graded. Not necessarily true, but neither is common wisdom.

It's a nice coin in a nice grade for the price you did well looks good right where it's at.
Hoard the keys.
Coin is nice and the slab grades 66+/shot 7.
Tough to find rattlers that aren't scuffed up.
Really nice looking coin!
$40 all day long. Nice grab. Does she have any sisters?
Nice Buff at a nice price.... A keeper for sure... Cheers, RickO
I would say that the grade is correct. There is no crack-out potential because the carbon spot precludes the MS-66 grade. > @jcretella said:
Rattler - early PCGS holders, the first PCGS holder. The name comes from the fact that the coin frequently rattled in the holder. The perception is that the grading was conservative and many pieces will upgrade. That is not always true as in this case IMO.
OGH - Old Green label Holder. Generally it is felt that the grading was more conservative, BUT not always.
Nice coin and price, keep it in the rattler as others have said.. it is properly graded at 65.
Nice coin, but I would send it in for reholder.
I don't like rattlers!
66+ shot at 67. Those spots might come off with some MS70.
Obverse sure looks stronger than a 65 to me. For me, the real question is how much the large-ish carbon spots on reverse limit grade. I'd guess it stands a shot at 66, but I'd probably leave it as is as the grade bump isn't that big of a payday, and I don't think it stands much chance of a 67. At $40 it sounds like a good buy and I'd leave the coin just as it is. Thanks for sharing...Mike
