Not approved yet, but it's looking like a possibility.

Yes, more tired idea junk that will take up more pages in the Red Book. It will probably push out more listings for items that really have collector interest.

Of course one this crap does is reduce the national debt. It's the bookkeeping entry from mint generated profits from stricking this stuff. They just strike it up and spend more real money housing it in vaults.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

1.) Commemoration should be done with commemorative coins.
2.) Paper Dollars need to be discontinued.
3.) Dollar coins will only circulate if our Uncle stops catering to the Vending Machine industry and other special interests.
4.) Instead of wasting time on this sort of thing our Legislators should revamp the current, outdated monetary system.

Here's the thread that follows this from when it was HR 6025 from 2016...

American Innovation $1 Coin Act, H.R. 6025 (Now, HR 770, will likely become law)

I don't think it will catch on if it does not circulate.

Just another junk series... well, perhaps not entirely - it may capture some YN's and bring them into the hobby....I also agree with keets... revamp the monetary system... eliminate the $1 bill...force the coins into circulation..add a $2 and $5 coin as well....The cent should be eliminated also, however, I am not sure that will ever happen. Cheers, RickO

Maybe the redbook will need to be a multi-volume release.
Volume 1 - the real coins
    Volume 2 - the trash

Volume 2 will also be 4 times as many pages as volume 1.
